If it is too cold out to be able to tell if the AC works. Turn the heat on and get some good heat flowing through the vents. Then turn on recirculate, then turn the temp knob to cold, wait 15-30 seconds. You should still feel warm air coming out as it is recirculating the air in the car. Now turn the AC on and you should feel the air getting colder (if the AC works).
