Ever since my mom found out I’m a democrat (I switched when I got back from my internship, but forgot that since I live at home, she could see the paper register when we vote and not see my name there in the republican one), she keeps trying to convince me I made the wrong decision. Today’s highlight is blasting Kenneth Copeland’s livestreamed Wednesday service where he’s talking about how bad being a democrat is, but like the things he’s said are the reasons I’m a Christian AND a democrat.
"I don't wanna have childrens' blood on my hands" um yeah, me either, so I'm not belonging to the party who okay'd locking up immigrant kids in unsanitary conditions that lead to death..."the things they're teaching children in schools...I can be whatever gender I want" um yes sir...you can...I mean the bible literally says there's no gender distinction in the body of Christ along with no jew or gentile...that was a bold ass statement 2000 years ago and still is today sir. I didn’t see Jesus telling people they owed him for getting healed, for being fed.
He’s now grumpy about flu shots??? Like I get so dang confused when people are “God works through doctors” and also “going to doctors for everything means you don’t have faith” (which I grew up raised the latter, and that was not healthy for me at all). Reconstructing my faith is really hard sometimes when my mom is constantly dumping evangelical nonsense onto me anytime I “drift.”
