Red-shouldered Hawk--Nesting, Oakton, Virginia, February 27, 2016

I have been watching a pair of Red-shouldered Hawks in the woods near my house.  The other day I saw them near what I thought was most likely their nest.  Yesterday morning my youngest son and I went into the woods, so I could show him the nest, where I had seen the hawks, etc.  Just to prove that our time was not wasted, we not only saw one of the hawks, but saw him bring several twigs into the nest to continue its construction.  Super cool, AND I was able to get the top photo…:)
