Quick Notes on Red Dept.
The Red Dept. is the lowest floor in the REM building sitting below the Indigo Dept. It is where most if not all the energy for the building comes from. The physical look of the Red Dept. is a large boiler room type setting with many various pipes covering the walls with doors tightly squeezed in that leads to repair shops and utility closets for the employees to use. The Dept. actually winds down far deeper into the earth than most would expect. The lower you go the more heated things get. Pipes are hot or searing to the touch and pockets of steam are firing off at random. At the bottom of the Red Dept and well outta reach from most employees is the Furnace where the head Reddington stays stoking the massive Mimic Furnace to keep the building running. This is a job he does solely as most if not all employees would find the heat in this area unbearable.
There are pipes that in the lowest level that actually serve the purpose of communication. These pipes run through the whole dept. so that Reddington can bark orders into them. Staff will be able to hear his commands in the upper levels through these pipes.
Reddington usually receives the notice from staff that something is broken then usually sends someone in his dept. to go handle it as he’s usually busy with the furnace or building something new for the business.
Its for the interest of everybody to make sure he himself doesnt have to come up to attend to anything as his temper and impatience are awful. His frustration is usually kept at bay by him working on something so distracting him from that only gives him the opportunity to vent his anger on something else.
