Apparently a bunch of porn subreddits, progressive subreddits, and any subreddits that have crossed Musk or Trump somehow (real or perceived) are getting nuked over on Reddit right now. So yeah, that's a thing (posted 2/5/25)

The reddit rule-break detection systems are high as a kite
Someone was sharing that tumblr post about teleporting a live seagull into any given point of place and time in world history in order to cause the most chaos and confusion.
I remarked that if I had this power, I would mostly think about which major global political figure would soon be found dead with a live seagull down their windpipe (I'm not gonna repeat the exact phrasing in case tumblr has simular algorithms).
Reddit apparently thinks that constitutes a "credible threat of physical violence" and has slapped my account with a 7 day ban over this.
I guess they think me a capable and dangerous Larinaemancer.
I've appealed the ban, but I've got little hope that it will be reviewed by an actual person (I have a suspicion that the appeals process is literally just automated to wait a few hours before sending back a response that the ban was reviewed and will remain in place).
I'm starting to see why people have taken to using self-censoring language on the internet. Who knows, maybe if I had used the word "unalive" instead of "kill" in my post, it wouldn't have tripped up the detection system.

The 40,000-strong community was nominally a “support group” for people who lack romantic relationships and sex.…
