When twelve-year-old Chell and her mother move into town, Chell finds herself planted in Aperture as a part of a larger Black Mesa plot. When she gets an opportunity to smuggle out blueprints for the coveted portal gun, Chell and her unlikely new friend Doug Rattmann learn just how far Caroline is willing to go to protect Aperture’s last secret.

Fic question: How does it feel to have finished a fic you started so long ago? (Also I will get around to finishing reading it!! I’ll probably reread from the beginning haha)

It’s……strange. Not in a bad way. It was very difficult to get myself to keep going and not get caught up in a loop of constantly revising old chapters. I had to make a deal with myself that I wouldn’t dive into any revisions for early stuff until I had finished the fic. I would really like to redo some of the early chapters. You know. The ones I wrote when I was 17.

Now that I’m done, there’s this space in my head where the fic used to be. Like, when I had it always simmering in the background. There is now a space there for a new project. It’s not a bad thing that it’s “gone” because I feel a solid state of completion. It’s out in the world now. I have told their story. A bit peaceful in a way.

If you do read from the beginning, keep in mind that I wrote the earlier chapters 10 years ago!!
