Song Review: Mike Post - “Redemption Valley”
It’s bluegrass.
Wait, no, it’s bluegrass with strings.
Scratch that - it’s a classical interlude.
Though it barely breaches the two-minute mark, Mike Post’s “Redemption Valley” is all of these things as he explores old-time string music and classical strings - separately and together - on his latest single.
It follows “Message from the Mountains V. Campfire Breakdown / Night Sky” from the forthcoming (April 5) Message from the Mountains & Echoes of the Delta, on which the famous composer for television theme songs seeks to graft bluegrass and blues instrumentation on to orchestral music.
It’s going to be a heavy lift.
