Day 23 of #inktober2018 "The Conflict" We are getting there peeps, we are getting there... I'm struggling somewhat at the moment, as this month was really exhausting, almost too much so, and I kind of need a break now, but I need to finish inktober first. This piece to me reflects inner conflict, and my tendencies to constantly feel like I'm tugging between several parts of myself that belong to the adult and the child, and want different things that don't always coincide harmoniously. I'm aware of my inner turmoil most of the time, and I try to decrypt and come to terms with what I know of it, and what I know of its origins, but I'm sure a big part of what makes me tick is subconscious and relates to things I haven't uncovered in myself yet. Part of my life goal is to slowly decipher my inner self. I don't expect to ever reach a final stage, I don't believe that really exists, but I'd like part of my life's work, the private part, to be as much of an achievement as anything I might do in my art, for example. The Crazy Thing About Empathy:

Not enough empathy, you're a sociopath.

Too much empathy, you're a psychopath.

Subject examples:

- Sherlock Homes, not enough empathy (originally), high functioning sociopath

- Hannibal Lecter, too much empathy, definitely a psychopath

Think about it. Sherlock was great at solving cases because he didn't factor in emotion. He understood the world and the people systematically. On the other hand, Hannibal was able to get away with all of his murders because he knew how to position himself to influence other people's thoughts, he understood how people think (he's a damn psychologist).

Empathy. Crazy how something simple as connecting with people can make or break you.

She went from elegant princess to bogwitch and I love it. She could have taken a few of her colored dresses, but no she insisted on finding some black dresses and green eyeshadow. Beautiful. I aspire to be able to change it up that quick.

I'm just saying Hannibal is sophisticated, elegant, and well groomed. NO ONE becomes that way on their own. He had to have read a few books. He was like "oooh yeah he fancy... so he's respected, imma do that" the same way teens always gravitate back to the edgy emo look, hannibal gravitated towards DARK dark academia yknow? Knowing that, he knows some common relationship tropes. He intentionally chose Will because he's the opposite of him aesthetic wise. Then he made him kinda like him. Then did the whole friends to enemies to lovers thing. Just saying... Hannibal went though some shit as a teen, so like... he probably read some angsty books and recreated them. Idk where I was going with this....
