[Video] alt-J zeigen Video zu “In Cold Blood (Feat. Pusha T) (Twin Shadow Version)“
Kürzlich erst verkündeten alt-J den Release eines ganz speziellen Albums, denn mit “REDUXER” veröffentlicht das Trio aus Leeds am 28.09. eine Hip-Hop-Version ihres letzten Studioalbums “RELAXER”. Es ist ein musikalisches Update der besonderen Art, wurden die Songs von “RELAXER” doch ausschließlich von globalen Hip-Hop-Künstlern und Produzenten wie Danny Brown, GoldLink, Little Simz, Pusha T oder Twin Shadow neu interpretiert – darunter auch der Berliner Rapper Kontra K. Mit “In Cold Blood (Feat. Pusha T) (Twin Shadow Version)” wurde schon ein erster Track aus dem neuen Album veröffentlicht. Nachdem die Band den Track bereits bei “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” live zum Besten gab, erscheint nun das offizielle Video des Songs. Der Clip entführt uns in eine knallige, surreale Welt, die perfekt zur Stimmung des Songs passt. Regisseur Osean selbst sagt über das Video: “Pusha and alt-J have two completely different styles and coloring them together makes an interesting sound (...). The way Pusha is acting in the video is the same way I feel he acted in the song. He flows through the song as his experience in someone else’s world trying to find his place. Reduxer, alt-J (2018)
It’s surprising just how well alt-J’s Relaxer instrumentals fit a hip-hop vocal and, for a remix album, Reduxer is better than most. Highlights are predictably the Pusha T and Twin Shadow features on ‘In Cold Blood’ and Danny Brown’s verses on ‘Deadcrush’, but as an overall product this record is varied and with enough surprises to make a worthwhile release.
