It was the winter after Basil Stag Otter adopted the young Cheek (now Cheek Stag Otter), and the two are preparing a cherry cake for their part of the season’s feast.

In the winter, when the snow is high and cold, many redwallers choose to stay in the Cavern Hole even after the feast has ended. Winter nights are warmer with friends, warm soup in hand, and a blazing fire.
