AU Theme: Tying a wide range of lore from the 2001 series together to create worldbuilding that remains as consistent as possible across all seasons.
- This is my main AU, which I began work on in November 2015. Most of my posts and 'fics fall under this umbrella.
- Canon-compliant with the 2001 series apart from a few tweaks to fix blatant contradictions (Ex: Early canon about characters and their relationships outranks "The Fairy Beginning")
- This AU focuses mainly on the magical worlds (Fairy, Anti-Fairy, and Pixie World). There are several human story arcs too.
- H.P. and Anti-Cosmo raise Talon in this AU.
- The Oh Yeah! cartoons (Season 0) are semi-canon to this series. The Grow Up, Timmy Turner movies, Fairly Odder and A New Wish spin-offs are non-canon.

AU Theme: Works themed around A New Wish. This AU is inspired by the first season of ANW, but not canon-compliant with it. However, all pieces within it are compliant with each other.
- This AU branches off from Cloudlands AU after Season 10's conclusion.
- This AU focuses little on the magical worlds. Instead, humans are the focus (Especially in regards to trauma and growth).
- This AU ignores much of A New Wish's take on magic and Fairy biology. It draws from the Cloudlands AU magic lore, apart from allowing Poof and Foop to age quickly.
- Minor changes separate City Lights characters from their Cloudlands selves. The only ones I currently plan to make sideblog bios for are Peri and Irep as they are significantly different from Cloudlands Poof and Foop, but I'm happy to answer Asks if you're interested in the other characters.

AU Theme: As opposite as possible from Cloudlands AU without blatantly contradicting 2001 series canon. In this world, H.P. and Sanderson are both half-wisp, friends, and unrelated. H.P. killed the previous Head Pixie and Anti-Cosmo overthrew his older brother.
- This AU focuses on worldbuilding for Pixie World and Anti-Fairy World.
- Canon-compliant with the 2001 series
- H.P. and Anti-Cosmo raise Talon in this AU.
- I drafted works for this AU in early 2016, but don't post about it often (as its plot points are sexual and I try to keep it off to one side). The main work for this AU is the aptly-titled multi-chapter Reedfilter Rules, which gets the cleaned-up versions of my early drafts.

AU Theme: Instead of growing up together under the Pixies' influence (as they do in Cloudlands AU), Gary and Betty only meet during their summer job at the Learnatorium.
- I have a few snippets from this AU, but it's very low priority (and probably won't have its own 'fic); it exists mostly as a reference for how living with the Pixies changed them.
- Canon-compliant with the 2001 series
- It's very important to me that you know Gary's in a bike gang.
An exploration of Pixie and Anti-Fairy culture in a world where Anti-Cosmo overthrew his brother and the Head Pixie drowned his predecessor, H.P. Reedfilter... with unfortunate emphasis on flirting and bribery to get what you want.
Also, Anti-Wanda runs a sandwich shop and is living her best life.
OR, that one FOP AU with simultaneous "H.P./Anti-Cosmo ship" vibes and "Everyone is aspec" vibes, but also... I have no idea what this is. They're raising A.C.'s kid, but I think if either of them considered letting down their walls for a relationship, they would die and the other would be pumped. Diversity loss! Nobody wins!

What Is Reedfilter Rules AU?
Pixie World's half-will o' the wisp outcast (Fergus Whimsifinado) and Anti-Fairy World's bachelor prince (the Anti-Cosmo) bounce off each other while raising Anti-Cosmo's kid despite living in separate worlds.
Anti-Cosmo faces mounting pressure to select a partner to rule Anti-Fairy World with. Meanwhile, Fergus sets his eyes on the Head Pixie position... and neither has any shame in what they need to do to get there.

An AU inspired by that moment in "Fairy Idol" where Fairy World refers to H.P. as "Sanderson's friend," and by the slideshow in "Fairly Odd Baby," where Jorgen shows Timmy a photo of H.P. and Anti-Cosmo with an anti-fairy child and heavily implies they raised the kid together.
tl;dr - The vibe I was going for was "As opposite as possible from Cloudlands AU without blatantly contradicting show canon."
"Oh, does that mean you finally wrote A.C. as a suave, sexy villain? :)" Absolutely not; I would not dare ruin his cringefail loserboy swag. But I gave him charisma!
Tone
Mostly angst, light romance, seduction, and drama (especially of the bureaucratic and political variety). Comes across gloomy and serious. Spurts of humor, but not a lot of cheery fluff to be found. Hey, they're pixies and anti-fairies- What did you expect?
By romance, I really mean H.P. seducing people in cold blood to scale the corporate ladder while Sanderson cringes in the background. Meanwhile, Anti-Cosmo juggles his multiple partners, heirs, and impending betrothal.
Also plays with some fairytale lore I didn't delve into with Cloudlands AU, such as further splitting the Seelie and Unseelie Courts into their seasonal states
Characters
Most of this AU takes place pre-canon, focusing on magical societies that don't have many named characters in show canon.

🍁 Anti-Wanda - Some cheeky girl from the Autumn Court who runs a sandwich shop. Once had an affair with (Gasp!) the counterpart of her own counterpart's partner. What a scandal it would be if that news got out! ... 10/10 experience; would hit him up him again.

❄️ Talon - Anti-Cosmo's son, abandoned in a Pixie World casino as a newborn and taken in by Fergus. Never satisfied with where he is, but never satisfied by his plans to change course. Doesn't know his mother and Anti-Cosmo seems intent on keeping that information private...

- Not a hypochondriac like he is in Cloudlands AU. Hm...
🌸 Sanderson, Ennet - The 2nd of two known pixie/wisp crossbreeds. H.P. took him under his wing after he found him passed out at a party. Very fidgety, likes music, and tries to keep H.P. in line. He has a couple half-siblings.
🌸 Longwood, Markell - A high-ranking pixie and Sanderson's rival. His mother (Columbine) is a royal pain in Pixie society, but she only wants the best for her precious son.
Other - Cosmo, Wanda, Jorgen, plus some Anti-Fairy OCs who appear in Cloudlands AU and play parallel roles here:

H.P./Sapphire - Fergus and his partner were arrange married, their relationship now straining as Sapphire struggles with her growing attraction to him (Not something you want to admit in Pixie World).
Sapphire picks a new persona (gender, name, personality) every 500 years.
H.P./Reedfilter - Reedfilter was ordered to cut ties with her husband in order to become Head Pixie. Fergus catches onto her loneliness and flirts with her regularly... which must be kept under wraps.
Rumor has it he's responsible for her untimely death. Surely not...
Anti-Cosmo/Anti-Wanda - Once had a fling; currently living apart as casual friends. Anti-Cosmo would die of embarrassment if anyone found out he flirted with the counterpart of his own counterpart's partner. As you do.
Anti-Cosmo/Anti-Saffron - Had a summer fling. Anti-Saffron had her daughter with another man. Anti-Cosmo, by his own admission, was "young and desperate" and took the kid under his wing.
Background relationships - Shout-out to Sanderson's dad and Longwood's mom being exes who hate each other. Sorry about your divorce; congrats on the government-assigned lesbianism.

Well... by "together," I mean Fergus is raising him and Anti-Cosmo pretends to pay child support, usually in the form of candy (which he's addicted to in this AU).
Also, A.C. is hiding a crush that will definitely not be taken advantage of by someone with a history of seducing authority figures. Yeah, we're goin' there.
Setting
🌸 Pixie World - Big business. Fergus recently retired from casino work to look after his son and moved to office work. The Head Pixie heavily dictates everything, from education to work assignments to matchmaking to approving conception.

☀️ Fairy World - Paradoxically obsessed with both freedom and order. Plenty of small towns and big cities, but lacks the heavy emphasis on "downtown office building aesthetic" you see in Pixie World. Sometimes streets are multi-layered and made from playing cards. A mess to outsiders, but locals like it fine.
Fairies receive a magic boost during summer
🍁 & ❄️- Anti-Fairy World - A dreary-looking land that thrives nonetheless, self-sufficient without the other worlds (and proud of it). The Autumn Court (east) has a culture of hunting, livestock rearing, and farming. Lots of clothing shops, taverns, and bakeries. Big on outdoor survival.
The Winter Court (west) has academies, training fields, and castles; they teach magic, reading, writing, culture, history, politics, social skills (especially for interacting with Fairies or aliens), and more.
Anti-Fairies receive a magic boost during either autumn or winter depending on their family affiliation
Is It For Me?
This AU is firmly in the upper teens and/or M range due to innuendo and seduction. Not likely to have E-rated works, but we'll see.
This universe's lore sticks pretty close to show canon. Worldbuilding does have depth, but I consider it pretty shallow.
-> There's no Wolbachia pipientis, Anti-Fairy zodiac culture, honey-lock, gynes, drones, preening, anti-pixies, or Refracts here
-> Insect and bat DNA is played down, so the Fae are pretty much just "small humans with magic and wings." That said, I leaned into some pieces of fairytale lore (with a lot of creative interpretation).
-> I consider this AU easier to get into, though it's definitely... one of the story flavors ever. Is it fluffy? No. But can we expect happy endings here? ... I have no idea! :'D
⭐ Seriously though, I don't suggest this AU if you're uncomfortable with angst or unhappy plots. This is a messy one full of villain characters making poor backstory decisions.
"Riddle, why do you keep doing this to us?" / "Look, when I try writing things with wider market appeal, they're original work. You guys get the wild stuff."
Major Themes
Choice, expectations, identity, pushing against tradition, power, trust, secrecy, deceit, finding your place.
There's also a theme about friendship, but I need you to understand that I am standing over it and looking at it with a sigh. This is an AU where friendships go to die.
- Fergus struggles to save his marriage when his partner admits she's more attracted to him than Pixie culture really normalizes.
- Fergus sent Talon to Spellementary School. When he never arrives, Anti-Cosmo flips.
- Anti-Cosmo and Anti-Wanda are forbidden from flirting with each other. This doesn't stop them in the least.
- After Fergus kisses her to clear her head with a pixie's oh-so-logical saliva magic, H.P. Reedfilter starts falling for his charms. Secretly, of course.
- Sanderson refuses to accept that he's been fired (or that H.P. doesn't like him). He hangs around despite blatant attempts to shoo him off.
- Anti-Cosmo gets increasingly paranoid by the thought that he may have more kids floating around than he thought.
- POV: You raise a kid with a guy for centuries and now you have a crush on him, alone in a hotel room where you're supposed to be signing a contract. You're both notorious for seducing people as a scam. oh no.

Drafts for this AU began in 2016, with the first piece posted August 12th of that year. Many loose drafts exist, but polishing and organizing them in a coherent and chronological storyline takes time.

A pixie would never flirt his way up the corporate ladder. It's simply... not done.
A collection of scenes from multiple POVs, kicking off with Fergus's failing marriage (and Reedfilter hitting on Anti-Cosmo, who's not impressed).
🌄 First Written - "Only an Idea"
The new Head Pixie takes a curious interest in a lowly cubicle worker who wandered into a party.
OR, Sanderson's first encounter with H.P. occurs when he wakes up hungover. H.P. can't get rid of him.
📅 Chronological Start - TBA
Reedfilter Rules is currently the chronological start of this AU, though there may be earlier pieces in the future (since turning this into a series frees me from the restriction of keeping everything within the one work).
🗺️ Worldbuilding
Fairly light worldbuilding, although Anti-Cosmo's POV definitely depicts him rambling on about it since that's kind of his thing as a character. Worldbuilding is pretty much what canon said on the tin: you've got several magical races living in the clouds above Earth, and some of them aren't so nice.
This AU pushes the ideas of the Seelie and Unseelie Courts... Specifically, the idea that Fairies, Pixies, and Anti-Fairies are all mischief-makers. Fairies just have a prettier reputation in human eyes... but the humans aren't here right now. Are they?
There are tons of species in this world, but they're considered their own unique species (as opposed to Cloudlands AU where they're considered Fairy subspecies).
Fairy World is a melting pot that welcomes people of any race
Seasonal Strength - Magic ebbs and flows with the seasons, affecting how willing each race is to use their magic (especially against the other races).
🌸 - Pixie World gets a boost in spring
☀️ - Fairy World gets a boost in summer
🍁 & ❄️ - Anti-Fairy World's two realms get boosted in Autumn and Winter (respectively).
Anti-Fairies also get a boost every Friday the 13th. Pixies get a boost in late November (Gray Tuesday mention!) and Fairies on October 31st / November 1st (Samhain).
Magical creatures can influence their surroundings - Anti-Cosmo sussed out H.P. Reedfilter when she stood on a beach, causing the surf to lap more intensely around her than elsewhere.
Pixie Culture - Pixie culture is about placing career above all, with the Head Pixie micromanaging everything (right down to who you're paired with, when you can reproduce, and when your relationship ends).
Anti-Fairy Culture - Anti-Fairies care deeply about their culture. In-story, Anti-Fairies use special given names unconnected to those of their counterparts. There's a lot more going on in their world than "plotting evil," though they're shameless about their mischief.
Anti-Fairies are very proud of their culture and individuality. It's important to them that they are self-sufficient and aren't tied to their counterparts... hence why it would be a huge scandal if it came out that Anti-Cosmo and Anti-Wanda had an affair.
In this AU, Anti-Cosmo's elder brother (Prince Mon d'lin) was meant to become High Count after his father. His elder brother's gone missing, heavily implied to be Anti-Cosmo's doing.
Anti-Cosmo is supposed to find a partner to rule beside him because magical strength shifts by season. You want both an Autumn and a Winter Court ruler on the throne at any one time... and A.C.'s bachelor days are numbered.
Also, Anti-Fairy names share their naming style with Cloudlands AU. Find a post with sample names HERE.
Genderfluidity - Fae can (and do) often change their bodies, both in anatomy and presentation. Fergus's partner Sapphire is a great example since she changes her identity every 500 years. Anti-Cosmo also flips between masculine and feminine presentations (with name adjustments reflecting this in line with Anti-Fairy name traditions).
📋 AU Notes & Warnings
Heavy focus on Pixies and Anti-Fairies. Doesn't focus on much else, as I find H.P., Sanderson, Anti-Cosmo, and Anti-Wanda pretty interesting. That said, I'm not opposed to writing other POVs (like Cosmo, Wanda, Juandissimo, and Jorgen) if I think up interesting plots for them.
Death Mentions - This AU doesn't have anything I'd call major character death, but Rani Reedfilter does drown. It's not graphic, but is mentioned repeatedly.
Expect threats to be tossed around, but this AU focuses more on intimidation, manipulation, and seduction than violence.
Anti-Fairy Feeding - Anti-Fairies are like vampire bats. They drain energy from others' bodies. The neck is a classic way to get a lot of energy, but biting a finger or wrist works well.
H.P. has a lot of scars on his hands from feeding Talon. Occasionally he feeds Anti-Cosmo, though A.C. claims Fairies are more nutritious.
Interspecies Relationships (and disdain for them) - Other pixies tend to look down on Fergus and Sanderson since they have will o' the wisp mothers. They are the only non-full-blooded pixies known to the universe during Reedfilter Rules.
Fairies, Anti-Fairies, and Pixies can change their bodies and reproduce with each other (and with other magical species, such as the wisps mentioned above).
Seduction - Fergus will flirt with anyone who might give him a leg up in life, even if he feels little to no attraction himself. Chiefly that means Reedfilter (the Head Pixie before him) and... Anti-Cosmo. However, other folks such as Anti-Wanda and Jorgen are theoretically on the table. Or the Fairy Council members, for that matter.
Anti-Cosmo is also totally down to flirt with people, again whether he's attracted or not. He's less interested in climbing political ladders and mostly flirts because it's fun.
I've previously said Jorgen is a no for them to flirt with because he's a rule-follower and not the type to go for seduction, which will almost certainly remain true.
They're mean to each other, they're implying things that have never happened, and it means NOTHING to them; do u see my vision?
Seductions can include one-night stands, longer-term flings, infidelity, and a general vibe of innuendo throughout this AU.
I'd say... Tentatively expect making out and potential sex scenes, but you shouldn't be surprised if those things appear in a more censored form (Ex: Heavily implied or fade to black). Not sure how much detail we'll get, but Reedfilter Rules is marked M, so it could definitely go that way.
My OG draft for Fergus seducing Rani (written 2016) probably took things farther than any other FOP work I've posted to date, and I've written alt (more censored) versions several times, but... that OG really calls to me as my favorite version, so I waffle between "Is this too much for people who've come to expect tame content from me after 8 years?" and "I really like this version better." I've gotten bolder about posting M or E works in recent years, so... /shrug.
As always, my M and E works are kept under my #ScarletPenguin pseud on AO3 so they can be easily avoided if you browse my main page (or easily found if you want them).
Also, AO3 has a built-in filter system on user pages you can use to filter out such works with a few clicks, which people who read on AO3 probably know, so maybe I'm just being over-paranoid... :')
Light Romance - Anti-Cosmo is semi-seeking a partner to settle with. He flirts a lot and has a growing crush on both H.P.... and Anti-Wanda, although he tries not to let on.
Pregnancy & Childbirth - Definitely exist in this AU and are referenced on occasion. However, these don't play a large role, nor do I intend to portray them graphically.
There may be upset stomachs and pain mentions, along with conversation revolving around children (Ex: Speculating parenthood)
Other Drama - General political and magical drama, such as Pixies working on 37-year plans while Anti-Fairies get extra mischievous on Friday the 13th. Bickering over land, resources, godkids, and Da Rules. Messing with Jorgen. Stealing stuff. Also, cultural differences causing interpersonal conflict.
Sanderson is sex-repulsed in this AU and only bonded with his first match, so he ignores all orders to sleep with the 2nd he was assigned to (to H.P.'s severe annoyance because he can't stand this guy pushing back).
This AU is still pretty rough since it's a collection of many pieces and they're shared with the public only when I'm 100% satisfied with the world they present. These are the big-picture issues I foresee, but there's potential for more.

- Reedfilter Rules - A pixie named Thirty-Seven flirts his way up the corporate ladder to seize the Head Pixie position. Meanwhile, the Anti-Cosmo struggles to pick a ruling partner. They're also raising a kid together. Fewer animal instincts, messy fae lore!
- Little Imperfections - Pixies with extra eusocial insect biology... H.P. is a figurehead whose life consists of staying home to birth and raise many pixie babies. Sanderson is his caretaker who might be a little too interested in "music" and "fun" for his own good. H.P. is captivated by his stories of "raves..." whatever those are.
- A New Wish - Many works related to A New Wish (and New Wish AUs) will likely find their way here. I anticipate a separate polished series that follows a consistent canon, but Off the Rails will hold random one-offs that don't fit there.
- King Me - Anti-Wanda was raised in royalty. Anti-Cosmo is some scrub who ran away to Pixie World when he was young. H.P. is desperate to set his two BFFs up. Anti-Cosmo has conversion disorder and can't fly because "it's illogical." Anti-Wanda makes many innuendos.
- Pivotverse - Anti-Cosmo and Anti-Wanda are especially cruel towards their son (along with other world tweaks). In Cloudlands AU, this is the alt universe Foop ended up in after "Playdate of Doom"
- A.J.'s Puzzles - Timmy considers A.J., not Chester, his best friend during "Fairy Idol," so Norm goes to college with A.J. The multi-chapter for this AU is titled Pulling Your Puzzles Apart after lyrics from the Coldplay song "The Scientist" (It's fully outlined and partly drafted; just haven't gotten around to finishing it)
- Red and Gold - A study of Gary and Betty in a world where they meet at the Learnatorium and become close friends as teens, as opposed to their Cloudlands AU lives where they were raised together by the Pixies from age 8 (which I write about in a 'fic called Pink and Gray). Gary still lives with his mom in this AU, which... if you know anything about her, is Very Bad News.
- Dust to Dust - My ChalkZone crossover AU, akin to Jimmy-Timmy Power Hour, but with Rudy and friends! I outlined a multi-chapter in 2016 to decide if it was worth writing and I wasn't captivated by it, but it might be fun to write snippets now and then. I still have a WIP of Rudy and H.P. arguing over Rudy being "too busy" to file universal paperwork, haha.
- Nicktoons Unite - At the time of making this post, I'm not familiar with Nicktoons Unite, but you never know.

Anyway... I hope it's okay to ask this (if not then please ignore this) but I wanted to ask why is "This is Halloween" (prompt 128) isn't on Ao3.
I went through the list there a couple of times, and I noticed it was missing (I noticed it a while ago but double-checked today). I know you said in the original AN for that fic, that it's skippable and if we didn't read it it's like nothing happened, so maybe that's why but I still think it's worth asking.

Thanks for taking an interest! I'm a bit ill and tired, but all right. "Only an Idea" and "This Is Halloween" are only available on FFN at this time, though the other 130 Prompts thus far are cross-posted.
I'll post "Only an Idea" to AO3 at the appropriate time for its appearance in Reedfilter Rules AU [+ FFN Link] because I thought it made more sense to post its content in chronological order (which is why RR updates slowly, as the pieces are vague and scattered in my drafts). I'm excited to post more for this AU, but I'm handling it as carefully as I can so I don't have regrets in my posting order down the line.
At the moment, it'll probably be posted after Chapter 11. I'm still waffling over whether I should post it as both Chapter 11 and a separate piece or just one of those things.
Likewise, I plan to post "This Is Halloween" at the time I deem appropriate, and preferably around Halloween. I don't regret writing it; it was a fun piece for a year Halloween fell on my update day. It's intentionally vague, misleading, and dripping with foreshadowing. I think it's fun and there's nothing wrong with reading it now.
It's up on FFN for readers to find and enjoy if they wish, but it's a complex piece that I do think is more impactful if read with certain context (Like nature spirits and the members Anti-Cosmo selected for his camarilla court).
Ex: Anti-Cosmo is Sunnie's medium in "This Is Halloween" (and in all 130 Prompts that take place after he becomes High Count). Notably, in "Halloween," Sunnie leaves Anti-Cosmo's body and they have a fight over whether to stay and defend the Anti-Fairies (what A.C. wants to do) and Sunnie's preference (Fleeing as far across the universe as possible).
The Anti-Cosmo-Sunnie relationship is very messy. Them figuring out how to, y'know, share the same body (particularly as H.P. and Anti-Wanda watch from the sidelines with increasing anxiety because A.C. has a bad habit of idealizing his abusers and now he's sharing a mind with someone his friends can't hear) is the main arc in Act 4 of Frayed Knots. So, y'know... That's gonna be a party!
We're currently 6 chapters into Knots' Act 3; we still have to get through the war before we meet Sunnie
I'm sure not all my AO3 readers follow me on Tumblr, so I thought it would be more effective to post "This Is Halloween" at a relevant time than it would be to make a Tumblr post saying "Hey, go check out this piece I wrote in 2017." Once the story is up on AO3, there's not much I can do to point people towards it, so that's the main reason.
I enjoy "This Is Halloween" and I'd love to discuss it with readers someday, but the chances that people will be willing to chat about The Implications™ and the many complicated layers involved in this piece seem higher if it's posted at a better time than now /shrug
That said, if anyone has read "This Is Halloween" (or any other piece of mine) and wants to send Asks about their theories or tag me in posts, I'd love to respond :) There are a lot of secrets and details in that one.

For three days after New Year's, the High Count's perfectly scrawled, perfectly creased invitation to dinner theater hung like a bat on the bedroom corkboard. Fergus kept it there beside a calendar featuring pixies in trees and vaguely motivational phrases like Tomorrow is a day of work and Look before you ping. He needed to go. He needed to bring Talon to see his father. They needed to talk about Talon, about his future, about the roles they would or wouldn't each play in raising him… It was necessary. An appointment.
It was not, as Columbine Longwood called it in the copy center, a date. The instant the word entered conversation, Sapphire placed a hand on Fergus's back, right beneath his wings.
"Walk away," she told him, cold and firm. Her effervescence tickled the inside of his ear in a swirl of irritated magic and exhaled breath. "She's not worth it."
"I won't walk," Fergus muttered back, but he did stuff his hands in the pockets of his work pants… It would keep him from grabbing the star-tipped pen inside his jacket. "I'm waiting for my copies." Which was obvious; the machine practically screamed when it ran. He'd experimented before and you could hear the noise from here to the toilets. He needed many copies. These were for Hawkins' finance presentation in 40 minutes (Evaluating the effectiveness of current wand technologies and comparing them to other options on the market; Fergus had to be there because Thane couldn't make it and he was the only other person who studies wands enough to give unbiased advice about their inner workings regardless of Fairy propaganda and pretty shells).
Anyway, Longwood couldn't tell him where in this building to go or what to do. She wasn't his boss. Sapphire's, maybe, but not his. Maybe he'd stay in the copy center all day. It might just be a little room, but it smelled sweetly of ink stains and lemon cleaning sprays. Here, the carpet stripes ran north to south instead of east to west. It was a good room. He'd park his butt. Work remotely from here in place of the office down the hall. What was she going to do about it?
Longwood's wings slanted back at his words, drooping low. Incidentally expressive. All six people in the copy center looked directly at her because of it… even her own freckle-faced intern, who floated nearby with a manila folder pressed against his chest. Longwood corrected quickly, pushing herself back into a floating position. Her dull gray fingernails clenched so tightly against the meeting notes in her hand, the page crumpled.
"I was making a joke. Ha ha, ha ha."
No one else laughed. Sapphire's cold fingers pressed so close to the slits for Fergus's wings, she grazed bare skin. Nearly imperceptible. Tiny half-moons. He turned around.
"I think you knew exactly what you were saying. You're accusing me of matchbreaking."
"It was a joke," Longwood defended again. Fergus tried to speak, but Sapphire's nails bit softly against his skin.
"She's not worth it… Longwood, back off."
Now that sounded like a joke worth laughing at. Back off? Longwood lived her life fighting to be the type of person who was worth responding to when she let some quip or challenge fly. She sort of basked in being the workplace enemy… Fergus couldn't define exactly why, but he'd long suspected her need for attention stemmed from being the lastborn child in a very big family. Longwood liked to own things, and things required money. She worked for that. She always knew exactly what she was doing, buzzing around in a fuzzy gray sweater that only barely passed the company's workplace attire requirements… It was very nearly silver. Very nearly against the rules. That seemed to be her motto.
Longwood landed then on one of the copy machines not in use, gripping it with her hands and curled toes. She crouched like a mountain cat with an invisible twitching tail. "It's a joke! … I'll say it again for those who didn't hear, and I'll emphasize the part of it that's meant to get a rise: 'It seems like you're making more of an effort to see Talon's daddy since your match took on a damsel's body, and if I didn't know better, I'd say you're meeting up with him for a date…' It implies matchbreaking, which is statistically unlikely. It's hilarious."
"I will bite you," said Sapphire, holding Fergus's arm with both hands now. "This is your only warning."
You’ve heard of Reedfilter Rules Chapter 1, but have you heard of Reedfilter Rules Chapter 2? This one is from Anti-Cosmo’s POV and it’s about him being a knight in shining bathrobe to rescue a bikini-wearing Head Pixie from a potential murder plot. No, not that Head Pixie... We’re talking about H.P. XXXVI.

After looking at the "When should I post chapters?" poll and giving it some thought, I think I'll post new chapters on Fridays [Possibly Thursday night with a Friday announcement on Tumblr] and do a reminder reblog bump the following Tuesday.
I've been super busy with work IRL, including getting lots of work on my novel done (Sent my first 10 pages to an agent last night). I still look forward to writing for FOP, but updates will be sporadic as I'm not really able to build a buffer right now.
Look to mid to late April for the next update! I anticipate a new Reedfilter Rules chapter followed a couple weeks later by the next Frayed Knots update. I think we'll mainly go in a Rules > Knots > Origin of the Pixies cycle with a 4th project mixed in on occasion.
I'm confident we'll finally get into the war chapters this year in Knots and Origin, which will mean a lot of crossovers between the two. The war chapters (and, truthfully, most of the stuff that comes after like the expansions of Pixie World, A.C./A.W. romance, and rise of Anti-Sanderson) have been heavily written since 2016, so getting here 6 to 7 years later is pretty exciting. I'll still need to write some missing scenes from scratch, but most of the work should be tidying up what younger me did and adding transitions between the existing scene blocks.
Speaking of, I'm coming up on my 7-year anniversary of writing for FOP. It's something I enjoy and I'm glad there are also people out there who enjoy my convoluted projects and like sending me Asks. Thanks for reading!
