I woke up drenched in a pool of nightmares I accidentally plunged into the night before not knowing that my subconscious has forgotten how to swim. I tried to recall childhood swimming lessons, but instead succumbed to the fate of re-mastering how to drown. Floating thoughts birthed from gentle twilight delusions took control over my sanity. They convinced me that I had the capacity to redesign constellations, so I became celestial, capable of realigning stars, exploring galaxies with my fingertips and dancing in meteor showers under the vigilance of his Gods. They serenaded me into uplifting my consciousness liberating me from shackles he bound me with, always gliding beneath his trajectory. I wrap my calloused soul in silver decorative paper and golden bows before dawn only to expose it all bare again at aphotic times of the night. This cyclic routine of packing and unpacking the burdens left in the wake of Atlas shrugging is confined to phantasmal spaces I call home. Spaces that are forgiving of the nocturnal disease that I insist on continuing to breathe because it instills life into my bones. But you will never get to see my heaving soul. Part 2 / 3 The night was ending for us as it was just beginning for others. As we walked back to my car, passing people entering clubs and bars. “Let’s just watch TV” we said. And we did. We didn’t have end goals, we were mentally cruising the night away giving into desires. We drank plenty of each others company and explored new zeniths with our bodies. To the street lights shining through the window, we traced the lines of each other’s skin as if we were mapping our internal urbanscapes.
