Reflection Sundaze: Practice Becoming Aware of Your Surroundings
Many of us live out our live unconsciously by going through the movements without even thinking about it. It is because we are so used to going through the motions of the things we do routinely that we do not first stop to think about what we are actually doing or saying. Because we are not aware of these things, we may also not be aware of these things having negative impacts on our lives. To find out what impacts our lives negatively or positively, it is essential that we become aware of every person and thing we surround ourselves with.
The first question you should ask yourself is: “What do I surround myself with daily?” Becoming aware of your surroundings is the first step to finding out how your surroundings affect you. In order to figure out the why, you must first become aware of the what.
So once you become aware of it, you should then ask yourself: “How do I feel about this?” Even think of the time you surrounded yourself with this person or this thing. How did it make you feel: uncomfortable, sad, happy, excited? Noticing how and when your emotions associate with the very people and things our surround yourself with is KEY to figuring out why your life is being affected by it.
Lastly, finding out why you are being affected by your surroundings is deeper than most of us may think. In order to find out, we must go deeper into our minds and find our inner person. Once our inner person is found, it is then that we ask ourselves: “Why does this person or this thing make me feel sad, uneasy or happy?” “Why do I always feel anxious when I pass the library?”
When we ask, we receive. It is important that we become more aware of ourselves and our surroundings so we are able to know exactly what is affecting our lives, why it affects our lives, and what we can do to change it. In order to live a conscious life we must first become aware of the things and people we allow in our lives. We will always find the answers to our questions within ourselves. For it is our truest version of ourselves that holds answers to everything we have ever questioned.
Have we ever realized how great everything would be if we would just change our perspective on it? Most of us do not even realize that it is our perspective that affects our mood and feelings toward someone or something and it is only up to us to change it. Changing our perspective does not necessarily mean that we no longer have our old perspective, but perhaps we decided to see this person or thing in another view. No perspective can be wrong because it is the way in which we, ourselves see. No one can see for us just as no one can see for me. We all are created uniquely so that we are able to observe and create unique things.
The perspective that I had for working, for example, was not as positive as it should have been. I hated the thought of even thinking about going to work for someone else because I see it as depending on someone’s money for my slavery or either just doing things that I do not want to do for money. However, now, I see it as me being a disciplined individual who gets paid for doing good deeds. I also see it as me playing a level game so that I am challenged to do better and better every single day. That is the type of perspective that we all need to exude into our lives every single day.
Having this type of perspective not only changes your mood but it also changes your life. I say this because having a bad perspective only puts us all in bad moods and then we begin to think of how horrible our lives are and we begin to attract the horrible things that we thought about into our lives. Meanwhile having a positive perspective brings great things into our lives such as our mood and the things that we attract in our lives from having a positive perspective. So lets all challenge ourselves daily to have a better perspective on our lives and on others. Not because they deserve a better perspective because WE deserve a better perspective.
As we all travel along our spiritual journey, it is very essential to reflect back on yourself. Reflect daily, weekly, monthly, even hourly to help you become more aware of your actions and surroundings. Speaking of surroundings, we must reflect and be conscious of people and things that surround us.
Think about the people you spend your time with the most. Now think about the interactions between those people and yourself. Do you get much accomplished? Do you plan goals to accomplish? More importantly, are they supportive of you?
If ANY of these answers were NO, you should begin to start spending time with those who you can answer YES about. The reason of this is because if you want to excel, you have to be with those who also want to excel. Spending time with those who are comfortable with being the same and their lifestyle. You are who you spend your most time with.
Ask yourself if you are aware of the people that surround you?
Ask yourself if you surround yourself with toxic people?
Toxic people are not always evil. These are the people who care about you so much that they overly protect you, people that try to convince you to put off your goals, or even people who try to belittle you. It is essential that you become aware of these type of people and ignore their intentions. Yes, they are good but their toxicity is not worth your goals.
Your ideal surroundings should be positive people who believe in themselves just as much as you believe in yourself. They should believe in you as much as you should believe in them. You need an IDEAL TEAM!
Spend time with yourself and think about your ideal team that you want. Write down the type of characteristics your ideal team will have. Write down your ideal self and affirm your ideal life. “My ideal team IS ambitious.” “My ideal team IS inspirational.” “My ideal team IS prosperous.” “I AM prosperous.” I AM ambitious.” “I AM inspirational.” “I AM ambitious.” When you believe what you speak, you create it.
