⁣ Postcards, like advertisements, are made with a certain target audience in mind. This vintage postcard was undoubtedly targeted towards meth addicts.⁣ ⁣ The child shown here is displaying a number of signs of methamphetamine abuse. His pupils are dilated, he's visibly twitching on the verge of convulsions, he appears to be experiencing a euphoric rush, and he's suffering from inconsistent sleep patterns, evident by his being in pajamas despite being fully awake 😳. ⁣ ⁣ Not only that, but he's experiencing delusions, seeing a pile of toys partially embedded in the hallway of his tenement apartment building, and even stepping partially out of the frame of the postcard.⁣ ⁣ The only positive note on this postcard is that it appears to be directed at recovering or recovered meth addicts, since the words say, "Don't you remember when you felt like this on Christmas morning?" This image was probably used in Victorian era hospitals to scare people from having a relapse.⁣ ⁣ If you know of someone who could benefit from such a message, this image and many others are for sale in my Etsy shop on magnets and postcards. ⁣ Having come across so many vintage Thanksgiving images of boys abusing turkeys, it was nice to find this one showing a boy giving a turkey an affectionate hug 🦃🤗.⁣ ⁣ This boy is little Tommy. Tommy is persecuted by the other villagers because of his penchant for wearing dainty, lavender attire. They sent him to the barnyard to kill this turkey while they were all having fun playing Puritan games 🎲.⁣ ⁣ Despite his weilding an axe, the turkey did not fear Tommy. Nor did it mock or ridicule him. In fact, it was the only creature that accepted him as he was. ⁣ ⁣ All living creatures need acceptance and love, even if it comes from a turkey.❤🦃 Tommy was no exception. In a state of happiness, he decided to befriend the turkey and live a tranquil life in the barnyard for the rest of his days. But deep in his subconscious he knew that it was only a matter of time before someone else from the village would come to execute the bird for Thanksgiving dinner 🍗.⁣ ⁣ And so in his mind, he heard the turkey speaking to him. "They've all been naughty, Tommy," said the turkey. "Every last one of them. Those Puritans have not been pure at all. They've been naughty and they must be punished. Cleanse the village, Tommy. Cleanse the village of wickedness."⁣ ⁣ Perhaps Tommy's axe will get some use after all 🪓😈. ⁣ ⁣ Next week is Thanksgiving.
