please talk about your morning glories sorting headcanons omg!!!
OKAY YES GOOD [RUBS HANDS TOGETHER]
casey: OH, A HAT STALL FOR SURE. but i think ultimately a gryffindor. she has a ridiculous amount of slytherin traits but many of those (her willingness to bend rules for a greater good, unflinching in the face of authority, natural leadership qualities, etc.) overlap with gryffindor and i think she would see those traits from the perspective of a gryffindor? she’s someone who has the desire to ‘save the world’ and everyone who has known her for a second automatically expects that she is fully capable of doing it.
jade: i thought about hufflepuff because she’s, well, ridiculously protective of the things/people she cares about and the most willing to give second chances (she still talks to ike for heavens sake). but man, the girl is BRAVE. she cries a lot and doesn’t seek out trouble (trouble finds her ;) insert other hp quotes here) but when put in a dangerous situation, she fights back. she’s the most symbolized by fire and she admires people she thinks are strong - and she sees strength in the form of people like casey. and i think that’s what cinches it? jade values what gryffindor repesents.
zoe: ravenclaw. HAHAHA, YOU THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO SAY SLYTHERIN. but no, the thing about zoe is that she knows more than any of us. she wows people with how shrewd she is, how in tune with her powers she always was, how she can analyze your intentions and the kind of person you are after weeks of knowing you, how she just KNOWS. she’s also smug as shit and gets irritated when others aren’t ON HER LEVEL. (no one is ever on her level. no one really deserves to be on her level.)
hunter: hufflepuff. hat was on him for 0.5 seconds. he’s a sweet kid who is a bit awkward and wants to make friends. who gets easily dragged into things and holds his tongue until he snaps. who ends up belonging more, not with the glories but the av club, who want to bring down the school in a more passive (LESS RECKLESS AND TERRIBLE) way, who has a great destiny disguised as a crappy power.
hisao: also hufflepuff. he’s the Grounded One, whether you put him next to his twin or the truants. the moral stronghold, the one who you can count on to do the selfless and Good thing. he’s driven and works hard for his goals, and is never willing to give up on someone. he’s quiet and was forced to become patient, more patient than he is, because that’s the only way he could be in position to protect those he cares about.
jun: gotta talk about jun if i talk about hisao. and jun? a born gryffindor. what other kind of eleven year old would let himself be taken by the people he watched murder his mother because of no other reason than to protect his brother? and he’s also presented as the more reckless twin, the one who will be rude to you whether that’s his intention or not. and once he’s in the academy, brainwashed and assured that what they’re doing is in the right, he is still shown as assertive and prideful. as well as a meathead lmao he excells in sports and in bullying other kids around. and in the end, it’s obvious he thinks with his heart.
ike: okay, i can’t argue against slytherin. ike is conniving and always looking out for himself. he’s sneaky and resourceful and was always under the impression that if he couldn’t have his father’s time and love, he could at least have his legacy and his company. when placed in a bad situation, he tries to always TALK his way out of it. through smooth talk and cleverness and even haggling and making deals. and when things get weird and supernatural? he still seeks to preserve his facade of ‘idgaf’, in fact he amps it that it borders on fervent denial. plus, he would never want to be in any other house.
irina: slytherin or gryffindor. she’s casey’s parallel that way. she shares a lot of casey’s traits, but with added ruthlessness and less love for others. (not saying she doesn’t love the truants but i don’t think she fully understands that love.) but she also desires to be the hero - prove her worth as the GOD she knows she is. she’s not willing to be played around with or be a pawn in another’s game. once she thinks she knows the score, she’ll leap in with overconfidence and zero second thoughts, even if she turns out to be deadly wrong. so hm, not sure.
vanessa: hmm. hufflepuff or ravenclaw? i’m leaning towards ravenclaw because she was born and raised on science and her endgoal seems to be through the science fair itself. like the av club, her methods aren’t ACTIVE, but through the sharing of communication and information. the one time she tried to be rash and assertive (because she was sick of doing thinks irina’s way) she ended in lock-up and caused akiko to be kept drugged for months while brendan DIED so. yeah, not her thing. but she’s also arguably the ‘mom’ of the truants and she tries hard to be irina’s moral foil. the way hodge got her to start trusting her was by appealing to her loyalty to others and the love vanessa has for them (promising her to set the boys in prison free, giving her a chance to say goodbye to brendan, etc.) and ultimately, vanessa trusts hodge because she thinks she CARES AND UNDERSTANDS AND IS A GOOD PERSON.
akiko: gryffindor i think, though she could also do REALLY good in ravenclaw. she’s quirky and happy and full of witty one lines. she likes nerdy things and is also full of WISE THOUGHTS. but emotionally speaking, the strongest of all the truants. her willpower is what keeps her going in that coma (only one person can hear and feel her and yet she keeps acting strong alone AND with him) and she sees her powers with the most…‘look at my super cool powers wowwow might as well call me an x-man.’ plus, the fact that she is prepared to do bullshit heroic sacrifices and play the role of obvious distraction with the belief it will turn out ok because HEY SHE BELIEVES IT WILL makes it kind of an either or situation.
fortunato: beautiful hufflepuff fish. he believes in his ‘family’ - his brothers and sisters - with all his might and was the only truant 100% locked in on completing abraham’s original plan. but he was also ready to follow irina’s plan because she was their leader and he trusted her. he’s known he was special for a really long time, but unlike guillaume and ian and irina, it didn’t give him a superiority complex. unlike akiko, he doesn’t see his abilities as cool superpowers. he’s patient and sticks firmly to his beliefs and is given such a raw deal again and again yet never loses his sweetness.
guillaume: i want to say slytherin. guillaume gives zero fucks about anyone in the academy outside of his campmates, and this is partially because he thinks that they’re (HE) is better than them. and really, he never had reason to believe otherwise when growing up in the camp and surrounded by brainwashed kids in the academy. he’s almost DISGUSTED by them and has no sympathy for their situation, not even jun. he’s not very good with expressing his feelings yet still goes for things when he wants them and truly thinks above and beyond of people who he DOES care about (the kid could gush about hisao for days). he’s got the most mysterious past of all the kids and never seems all that willing to share why he acts the way he does anD HE NEEDS A FLASHABACK ISSUE AGH.
ian: ravenclaw. smart and sarcastic and the most independent of the lot - always bouncing back and forth between irina’s plans and vanessa’s plans and joining the av club like hopscotch with his own agenda in mind. he was raised by science and experiments and he obviously did his own research on the machinery kept hidden in the academy and is confident that he can work it. he gets along well with akiko and vanessa and the av club kids bc they all value intelligence above most things.
abraham: i want to say that abraham is, like….a terrible hufflepuff who does terrible things. but the guy values loyalty over anything else and uses that to surround himself with followers all working for the same thing. his most important relationships to him - whether he shows it well or not - is his family. his actual son and everyone in the camp, especially the children (whom he obviously cared more openly than ike, causing a lot of ike’s dad issues to begin with.)
daramount and hodge: both slytherins. very different sorts of slytherins but yeah, definitely slytherins from the moment that they realized their positions in the academy and their roles in the future. georgina is more of the sterotypical slytherin in appearance but that’s exactly what makes lara the bigger slytherin, because she takes advantage of the fact that the students will learn to fear and hate georgina’s strict and unremorseful methods of educating them and manipulates the situation so that she is seen as the one teacher in the school you can feel like you can confide in. and yet they both do what they do for their father’s approval, especially georgina, and lara admits full well that regardless of her ambitions she loves her sister unconditionally.
