in a brief exchange of amiable nods with the venerable bail organa, obi wan extends his arm toward padmé. it's all he can do from keeping his heart from clamoring through his armor toward the palm of her hand when their gazes cross. then, softly, ❛ my lady? ❜

the moon hangs in the sky above, casting its light upon the duo as they gallivant along the promenade. it gives way like a spotlight to what may already be detected without any spectacular use of force sensitivity—- a stir, an uneasiness that is not uncharacteristic of obi wan kenobi in his current, precarious circumstance. the news he bears is quite grave . . . a decision that has not fully been made, but will in due time; for he had been plagued by humanity, a mark that would forever taint his use of the force . . . and try as he may to conceal this remarkable truth, it is no use. there are some emotions that cannot simply be stowed away. they must be confronted head on. qui-gonn had been very specific when imparting these sort of protocols . . .

the    sound    of    his    name    on    her    lips    is    his    saving    grace,    each    syllable    perfectly    formed    to    pull    mind    from    even    the    darkest    depths    so    that    he    may    drown    himself    in    the    warmth    of    her    gaze.    head    tilts    into    easy    affections,    cheek    insistently    nudged    until    palm    fits    against    unblemished    jaw.    "    how    can    this    be    dangerous,    my    love?    "   

how    could    they    be    dangerous?    two    sides    of    a    coin,    melded    together    so    perfectly    it    seemed    wrong    to    part    from    her    side.    unfair,    she    says!    as    if    she    does    not    steal    the    very    breath    from    his    lungs    at    the    barest    hint    of    a    smile.    her    love    was    his    altar,    his    only    place    of    worship    in    this    rotten    world.    "    when    we're    together,    we're    the    only    two    people    in    the    galaxy    i    care    to    think    about.    "    words    whispered    as    head    turns,    lips    grazing    the    palm    of    her    hand    before    continuing    their    trek    along    the    length    of    each    bony    finger.    a    kiss    for    each    protruding    knuckle,    the    space    between    her    thumb    and    forefinger,    the    tips    of    each    and    every    finger    worked    so    tirelessly    to    make    the    galaxy    a    better    place.

a faint stir from the stretcher mere feet away is enough to rouse ben from his ruminations. he crosses with great haste from the window to attend to the waking senator, hands outstretched to gently encourage her to stay put. ❛ it's all right . . . padmé. . . ❜ note the tender way his lips part to accommodate her name, the benign way his hands mercifully situate her blankets. he shushes in a consoling whistle, leaning over the bedside railing to come face to face with @regaldiplomat. ❛ i must urge you to be very careful. you're still recovering. . . ❜
