EMIKO.HEADCANON ; daemons +
actually here are a few more facts about daemons since no one asked ^.^
humans & their daemons will always be in the same state at the same time; sleeping, drunk, ect. ( bonus ! cedarwood makes them sleepy ! )
a human and their daemon can communicate covertly between themselves.
IT IS GENERALLY VERY TABOO TO TOUCH ANOTHER PERSONS DAEMON ! doing so creates an innate sense of weakness and vulnerability. it has been described akin to reaching into someone's chest and touching their heart (among other, less savory descriptions).
for this to be at all a positive experience requires an incredibly close relationship between the humans. otherwise it can feel quite jarring and violating.
instances where a daemon might seek out / accept another humans touch include ; a show of intensely close friendship / romance, consolation after a traumatic event, or if their human is seeking comfort / validation from another ( i.e. a child seeking comfort from a guardian ). of course, consent is everything !
however, daemons touch each other all the time. in fact, they play / fight / cuddle, generally in a mirror of what their humans are doing.
there is an intuitive difference between a daemon and an animal ( even beyond the fact that daemons act more human-like than animals ) though its hard to put into words. even humans should be able to feel that something is off, though most will simply ignore / overlook that feeling if not familiar with the concept of daemons. animals see only a human, bypassing the daemon completely. finally, any 'supernatural' sense, even weak, could allow the bearer to visualize the link between a daemon and their human ( as it is incredibly strong ).
