I JUST GOT TOP SURGERY!! So here is my log daily!

Day 1: 9/8/25
Day of the surgery.
I got it done with Dr. Regina Y Baker at Keck Medicine and USC
I was really nervous at first
Because this would have been my first ever surgery ever but I got in the car at around 7:30am (after fasting all night) to make it to my appointment at 9:30,
They were really nice to me, making sure I was calm and talking to me in a very respectful manner witch was nice
When I got to the back they finally had to put my iv drip in my arm but there was an intern that did it and she got some reason couldn’t get it in my arm right and had to stick me twice, until the other (and much older) doctor just took it from her and did it in my other arm and it went in perfect,
I waited in the back for a bit and then the anesthesiologist came in, he was nice and talking to him felt like the best parts of joking with my dad
He told me that “oh we’re going to put you to sleep in the room and I’ll let you know when we do that, and you can tell when we do because it will burn a bit in your arm but we will flush it out” so I’m on my phone because there starting to wheel me off texting everyone I can, and I can see the other medical TA inject 3 things into my iv but I didn’t know what it was
The doctor just went “you might wanna put your phone away” so I texted my boyfriend one last time before putting my phone away, and then I made it out the room, and before I could realize I blinked and woke up in the finished room with my tits off
It was kinda funny because it caught me so off guard but I think they tell everyone that lol
Pain at the time was a 5/10 not really bad because I was coming off the meds but not super good either, I was more soar then in pain, also I can’t shower till Wednesday witch is a bummer because I can smell the medical recovery on me and I am autistic about showering so it eeks me out
I got home at about 2:30pm and I got my meds, which were a stool softener, Tylenol, ibuprofen , an antibiotic, and oxycodone (plus in n out because I hadn’t eaten in hours) and I was also equipped with drains
For pain what worked for me was this
Wake up
6am take stool softener, ibuprofen, and antibiotics
12pm take Tylenol, and antibiotics
6pm take ibuprofen, and antibiotics
12am take Tylenol
Sleep
I haven’t needed the Oxy at all yet but as far as the pains been going I don’t even really think I’ll even need it
My best two items I got for this are my mastectomy pillow (that comes with a hot and cold gel pack,) neck pillow, a mastectomy shirt (so no lifting my shirt over my head, stool softener (in my prescribed meds and a SCD machine given to me by the hospital, these items are soooooo vital!!!! You’re gonna love a good cold press pillow, and a shit with good access to your drains to have on. Along with the fact you’re going to come out b l o a t e d!!! If they don’t give you still softeners like I did your gonna need to buy some
After that I just put on a movie, called my boyfriend, and sat my ass down for the first day in that bed, making sure to rotate my meds and remember my drains
Recovery is the hardest part but then it will be so worth it
