Aloha! This Polynesia bathing beauty is one of my great recent finds! I got her at local estate sale’s clearing house…not exactly a thrift store, but close enough. I’m not opposed to looking anywhere, flea markets, garage sales, even antique malls if I can find a bargain. And she was a bargain! I’m not going to say exactly what I paid, but it’s less than lunch for two at Carl’s Jr. She’s a very early Reglor lamp, marked 1947 with out a TM. Apparently, a company had (has?) to first produce a product without the TM in process of obtaining the trademark. So, she is one of the first product runs from the Reglor company. If you’re new to collecting Reglor lamps, they were created by a husband and wife team, Bernie and Rena Stein. (“Reglor” is a blend of Rena’s name and her cousin’s name, Gloria.) Rena was a sculptor and the creative mind behind the company. When Bernie returned from WWII, he began casting Rena’s statues into chalkware lamp bases. The company first began production in 1947 (the year my lamp was made!) I hope to find out more on this gorgeous girl. I’ve not been able to find another Reglor lamp quite like her.
