A customer gifted me this beauty today. It’s a German 5 Reichspfennig piece from the year 1924, post hyperinflation in the Republic.
For reference, a Reichspfennig is considered 1/100th (0.01) of a Reichsmark. It’s a German nickel, if you will.

Long before cryptocurrency or the euro there was the Lire for Italy, Franc for France and Reichsmark for Germany. Not sure how he got the Lire since he was never in Italy, but I assume he traded for it with another officer. I noticed the Lire had the text "Allied Military Currency." As the internet states it was used by the Allied powers during WWII, to be issued to troops entering liberated or newly occupied countries, as a form of currency control. 💸💸💸 #germany #wwii #leica #leicaii #reichsmark #france #lire #photography #currency #history (at Germany) https://www.instagram.com/p/CYJ68-GFqn8/?utm_medium=tumblr
