Disclaimer: I sobbed my eyes out during this scene. But as beautifully scripted and acted as it was, I will never get over being angry that most of what we saw of their marriage was nothing more than a miserable mess complete with cheating and plans of abandonment. It wasn’t that long ago that Francis was just as gravely ill as he is now and Mary’s primary concerns were continuing her affair with Conde and throwing France under the bus. The way they have written Frary this season has been lovely, but it makes the mistakes of last season stand out all the more egregiously.
