Business isn’t necessarily bad, but it could definitely be a lot better. When people stop into Hex, they’re usually only passing by. They, the patron, don’t really believe in any of this stuff. Just stopping to see, never actually opening up their wallets and buying anything. And some people, a few, will subject themselves to a reading, but not nearly enough. Really, Bowie doesn’t expect much else from a town full of skeptics whose entire belief system is situated at the end of the barrel of a gun, but it certainly doesn’t stop them from trying.
They take matters into their own hands, storming the town with cute little flyers they made themself. Dancing propels their steps as they move around, stapling their flyers to boards and wooden utility poles, taping them to metal streetlights and any other surface a flyer will stick to. And honestly? Bowie couldn’t be enjoying themself more. Smiling, they hand flyers to people on the street, even occasionally stopping to explain all that Hex has to offer. That’s the intent when they see the woman heading their way. “Hi,” Bowie greets her with a friendly smile and disposition, preparing to hand her a flyer when the sudden shift in energy hits them.
It’s dark, disturbingly dark and weighted and negative - to the point Bowie is visibly taken aback. “Oh god,” Their smile falls, their arm retracting as they hold the piece of paper to their chest. It’s unlike anything they’ve ever experienced. “Sorry,” They close their eyes for a second, shaking their head as they try to gather themself. What’s going on? Death clings to this woman, and not in a way that resembles loss. It’s more like murder.
