My response to Billy's cider label, it made me think of really old school adverts in the days when people used Shakespearean English, back then people used to think that wine would cure all your ailments so I designed an advert for Medicinal Wine.

Relay week 6

My response to billy's parrot with the words "salty wing" which reminded me of salt and pepper chicken wings so I decided to draw a curious looking chicken.

Relay Week 7

My response to Billy's relay of the Duke of Wellington, after some background research I found out he was known as the Iron Duke in his old age because he put iron shutters on his house to block out angry citizens. I thought "The Iron Duke" sounded like a really typical British pub name so  I have created a water colour painting of the outside of a pub called The Iron Duke.

Relay Response Week 5

In response to Billy's piece containing the words 'fools gold'.

I did research into where the saying 'fools gold' actually comes from, and it is the name given to the mineral iron pyrite or iron disulfide. When people first discovered gold in the earth, iron pyrites were commonly mistaken for real gold due to their golden colouring, unfortunately worth a lot less.

I thought the word pyrite looks and sounds too similar to pirate to ignore, thus I transformed some little fool's gold nuggets into pirates. I added the type to be clear on what the meaning behind the piece was, i decided to use a font similar to the font used for the film "Pirates of the Caribbean" as it is highly recognized and associated with pirates around the world.

Relay Response Week 4

In response to Billy's "100% Beef" burger.

This is a beef wellington. I collaged together photos of roast beef on to one of my wellington boots to create a literal version of the famous meal 'beef wellington'.

I decided to photograph the boot on it's own rather than on someones foot to draw attention to the boot. After some test shots in my garden I decided to bring in a wheel barrow for the background as it is a typical farmer type object and farmers wear wellington boots. I feel like it sets the scene better as opposed to having a plain wall in the background.
