GIRLS SEE OVER 400 ADVERTISEMENTS PER DAY TELLING THEM HOW THEY SHOULD LOOK.

…….THEY ARE ALL BOLD!

Living in such a consumerist culture we see advertisement EVERYWHERE! Ads seek to sell women on how to behave, dress, eat, love and what they should care about. Women all over our society are encouraged to hate their bodies. Advertisements are telling women how they should look rather than encouraging women that they already look beautiful no matter what shape, size, color, clothing their wearing, hairstyle, makeup or not, BLAH BLAH BLAH this list goes on for days (especially when you're a woman). Once again the hegemonic powers of advertisement promote women to strive for this same perfect look all women hear, see and talk about. Leaving our society with this serious problem of intense body shaming on women of all ages. SO PLEASE PLEASE can we make a difference and...

 1. Stop trying to look the same when we are all so beautiful in different ways

 2. Stop trying to fit into this same stupid category of perfection

 3. Just be Yourself!

If all women became this “perfect image”, we would all be some boring ass women!!

I was watching Hulu, like I normally do on nights I don't have much work, and I saw this commercial a couple times. I knew there was something in it that bothered me, when it hit me across the face. 

That woman (Camila Alves) is gorgeous, I'm sure this is something most can agree on.. So why is it that the poster of her looks so much different? Is it me or does it almost look like another person. Why airbrush already beautiful women? Why find fault in someone that most people already idol? Maybe she has things about her that aren't "perfect", but aren't the slight imperfections what makes something beautiful. It's what makes us fall in love with something. The thing is, these advertisements aren't trying to make you fall in love with a person, just a product. They want you to see their product and think perfection, no matter the humanity they have to take away.  This is wrong people! We need real people, even obnoxiously pretty people, as long as they are REAL.

Relevent Reblog: Bic pens for Women

Bic for Her pens are pens just for women and men don’t use them, after all they only come in pink and purple. Ellen took it upon herself to ridicule the fact that Bic actually has a pen just for women. She says before they actually play the commercial that us women have been just so stupid before cause we were using man pens! No wonder why I can’t spell some things right and damn those man pens sure were heavy! I can always count on Ellen to make fun of the most ridiculous things out there, just as she did the JC Penny commercial. She can point out what is clearly wrong in our media and people will listen to her, she even said she likes to promote kindness and equal rights with no differences especially with men and women. One line she says before the actual commercial is that men have had pills to grow their hair and fix their sex lives and we get….PENS!! How great. One of my favorite lines from the actual commercial is that we can use this pen to write our opinion on a piece of paper then crumble it up and throw it away after. Basically all in all Bic pens for her have many political views in their agenda, and that women are in superior. This clip is great along with Ellen. I don't know how many people have actually seen Leave It to Beaver, but it's about as stereotypical as you get when it comes to the normative family. Ward, June, Wally, and the Beav are your typical American family. This clip shows all the preemptive ideologies that come along with a family. Ward explains to Wally that a woman's place in inside doing whatever it is they do. However, the man's job is to be outside on the grill, doing yard work, or other "manly" things. This fits in really well with what we were talking about with Modern Family because the Cleaver's are pretty much the exact opposite. They fit the stereotype perfectly. There's a father, a mother, and the two sons. They're a white, middle class, working family. The boys both go to school, dad goes to work, and mom stays him all day tending to the house. Modern Family is a perfect testament to just how far television has come. While I'm not dissing Leave It to Beaver, because it's honestly a classic, it's just shows the evolution and strides Americans have made since then.
