With how people are saying that the overall character of Maleficent is ruined in her first live action movie...
I’m honestly thinking more about how Aurora was even more screwed over of not getting some more potential depth that the original Sleeping Beauty movie didn’t presented her with by basically keeping her as a plot device like in the original but somehow giving her less to do as a character which was thought to be an impossible feat. I mean seriously they could’ve expanded how she deals with the truth of why she was in the forest to begin with and how it could’ve tied into Maleficent’s arc with being stripped of potential happiness if they still insisted with trying to present Maleficent as a protagonist. She could’ve also found a way to mend ties between Maleficent and her parents too but instead all she got was being more of a prop then in the original. I’m getting an awful feeling that the sequel isn’t going to do better favors for her in that one but if it does I’ll be happy but still.
It’s just frustrating to see how outside of the ABC series Once Upon a time,Disney hasn’t really done anything to give Aurora more to do as a character in her own right because there’s already plenty to like her as a character but compared to the other Princesses she hasn’t got much to her. Maleficent whatever you liked the movie or not still is a memorable character at the end but poor Aurora does’t have even that going for her. In an age where Disney’s trying more then ever to give more depth to their Princesses one would think Aurora would be among the first to get this treatment because good grief she needs it the most. Hopefully that can change,
