Raiden finally met Remington, but the paladad has yet to warm up to him.

As the three of them exit, Remi blocks Raiden from stepping outside. ‘Just a moment, if you would.’ He closes the door so that they’re alone in the hallway.  ‘I’m sorry, sir, is there a problem?’ inquires Raiden. Remington holds his gaze for a couple of seconds and Raiden feels a strange sensation, as if the man can stare straight into his soul. Remi then narrows his eyes a bit before letting out a big sigh. ‘Listen, Ryland,’ he says quietly. ‘I’m sure you’ve had your own stuff to work through and I’m sure you’ve been putting your best foot forward. But you didn’t have to see those two in the aftermath of your selfish actions. The state they were in. The damage you did.’ Raiden opens his mouth to say something but Remington puts up a hand and continues. ‘Now I’m a firm believer in second chances, and they seem happy to have you around again, and that’s great. But know this: if you so much as step a toe out of line with those two, you and I are going to have a problem.’ The Remington that was catching blueberries in his mouth earlier seems to be a far cry from the man towering over him now. Up close, Raiden can see several gnarly scars on his skin – both old and new, and the air around him feels heavy with a power that is not just his own. Perhaps this is the type of guy who killed an incubus. ‘I understand,’ Raiden says carefully. ‘Wonderful,’ says Remi, and he steps back and opens the front door for him. ‘Have fun out there!’
