These remote outlets function really well. They are easy to set-up (plug in the outlet, hold button for 3 seconds, press a number on the remote to designate, and you're done). The range for the remotes is also great. It works aimed the opposite direction, and even through walls from other rooms.
The set comes with 2 remotes and 5 outlets. The remotes have the batteries included.
My 2-year-old nephew had great fun going around and pointing at things that we needed to add to the remote. I plugged the outlets in for him, then he thoroughly enjoyed clicking everything on and off. The remote just has two columns of buttons, the left side is on buttons and the right side is off. It's straight-forward enough for anybody.
The outlets all have power buttons on them, so you can also turn them on/off directly without the remote.
This is ideal for Christmas lights.
My only somewhat negative comment is that the sockets on the plugs are fairly stiff and can take a little effort to plug and unplug your cords into. But this is a minor thing.
Overall, I think these work well and I would recommend them.
