My new Tumblr Theme
I've wasted quite a lot of my free time over the last few days on mess about with my tumblr theme. There is a reason why I shouldn't go near HTML coding.. and that is that I will get obsessed with making everything perfect, and it's one of the biggest time sinks I have ever come across! I love that I can do these things now (with my basic understanding) but sometimes, like now when I realise I've spent another 4 hours on it, I wish I'd never taken that Web Design module on my MA course!
I couldn't find a pre-made theme anywhere that would let me do exactly what I wanted to I decided to try and build one myself. I'm (99%) happy with it now and I thought'd just give a quick credit to http://tumblrgenerator.com/ which I used to get a basic layout for my new theme, rather than writing a code from scratch.. I don't have that much free time! There were a lot of little things I couldn't get how I wanted in that generator so in the end I used their basic code and fiddled around with it quite a lot. It's good for making your own simple themes, which is all I wanted! It have have a basic grasp on HTML then it's not difficult to do and tweak. There is a lots of help out there on the internet anyway.
The install theme button was bugging me (especially as not my theme is no longer the one I originally installed), I found out how to remove that from this lovely person's post.
That's all folks!
P.S. All this has taken me back in time to 2005.. I just realised that Tumblr is basically the new Myspace! This also makes me feel old.
