Message to Syfy and Syfy Fans
I’ve watched and supported 12 Monkeys since the beginning of the pilot that premiered last January. It normally takes a lot for me to REALLY get interested in a TV show and stick with it, especially science fiction. Immediately after watching the first episode I fell in love with the writing, the characters, and the story, it grabbed my attention. Then, in the second episode, when we first met the unhinged, crazy mental patient, (who’s really not as ‘crazy’ as we make her out to be) and adaptation of Brad Pitt’s character, Jennifer Goines, I instantly became fascinated and curious, I wanted to know more about her, her backstory, how she became what she is, why she was in a mental institution and why she was drawing monkeys on her wall. So that night after watching episode 2, Mentally Divergent, I decided to create a fan page account on Twitter for Jennifer Goines. (I love ALL the characters on the show, and if I could create a fan page for each of them, I would!) I just wanted to share my interest in Jennifer with the rest of the fans and express my thoughts on each episode, the show deserved attention and recognition! Along with Amanda Schull, Aaron Stanford, Kirk Acevedo, Todd Stashwick, Barbara Sukowa and MANY others, the way Emily portrayed her character was unbelievable. For Emily, having to follow Brad’s performance in the original movie as Jeffrey would be extremely difficult and I think if the writers would’ve kept the role as a male, it would would not have measured up to Brad’s performance. Having watched every episode at least 3x, and seen how people reacted to the show both on social media and from the people i’ve talked to, I would say that 12 Monkeys is one of the BEST shows that Syfy has EVER had, if not the best. Before 12 Monkeys, I never watched the Syfy channel, unless there was a decent movie on. Now, since I discovered the show, I can’t stop. It’s good Syfy! With brilliant writing, amazing acting and a captivating story. Who knew time travel could be THIS interesting!! So far in season two, each time I tweeted with the cast and fans, #12Monkeys has trended on Twitter. (8x in a row) The 12 Monkeys account is gaining followers by the hour, new people are gaining interest in the show. And while you’re waiting for a new episode, you can watch the previous ones over and over and NEVER get bored, sometimes you find out something new that you may have missed before because there’s so much detail and it continues to get better each time! And please tell me why Emily Hampshire has not received an award for her outstanding performances throughout the season. Like old Jennifer said, in episode 5, Bodies of Water, “She’s got the touch! She’s got the power!” She has the smile, the laugh, the humor, the enthusiasm, the right amount of crazy! Everything seems so real, and she has the ability to make you shed a tear, to make you feel Jennifer’s pain. (The writers do a really good job of making it come to life, keeping us at the edge of our seats, while throwing in some humor at the perfect times.) With amazing writers such as, Terry Matalas, Sean Tretta, and Travis Fickett, Emily makes Jennifer one of the most entertaining and lovable characters on TV. No one can compare to Emily’s performance. (Not even Brad Pitt himself!) So ultimately, the point i’m trying to make is, this show is becoming something big, despite what ratings may show, this show is the best show that Syfy has had in a long time. Seeing that it’s starting to gain a lot of popularity around the world, I think it’s way too soon to let it go. So please, spread the word like a virus, and help keep this show going, sci-fi is coming BACK, and it all starts with 12 Monkeys. #Renew12Monkeys
