Nick > gets antsy when he feels compelled to do human daily rituals (eating sleeping etc.) that no longer serve him a purpose. they aren’t as common now compared to early on. > not that interested in modern music or fashion but isn’t bent out of shape over it either—unless he finds it loud or too crass. he won’t cause a scene, just asks for it to be quieter. > frequently makes pop culture references, including more modern ones he learns on accident > we already know he’s a big poetry fan, but he also reads novels and significant historical literature (The Odyssey, Frankenstein, etc.) > this is something that means a lot to me: demonstrates Alzheimer’s symptoms semi-frequently. this is technically canon due to his prewar flashbacks and dialogue about forgetting people he met before becoming a detective, but it’s something i want discussed more. i’ll 100% end up talking about it myself more later.
