I'm really glad I read Why I'm No Longer Talking to White People About Race as my big anti-racism read last year for Read Harder because it's by a black British author and really gives an in-depth look at both the history of black British people and anti-blackness in the UK, how it's similar to and different from the U.S. (the author does not phrase this that way because the book isn't specifically "for" Americans or general non-Brits, but if you're an American reading it you can connect the dots) and what the state of anti-racist activism there is like. It isn't phrased that way at all in the blurbs about it on all those anti-racist reading lists, so that was a very pleasant surprise. If you want a book that places anti-racism in a more global context than most of the other very U.S.-centric books, that's not a bad place to start... and unlike most of the other books I can recommend on this topic (global approaches to discussing racism and specifically anti-blackness) it's not super academic either.
