Day 3 - Bandages / Wounds / Blood

It wasn't really until I started writing the Salvage rewrite that I grew an appreciation for Soul. As a younger reader, I just never really got the existential dread he was going through since so many other characters had these larger than life personalities.

Day 6 - Madness / Insanity / Scream

I was inspired to do a full madness black blood dress after looking at the sheer dresses in dior's collection. I didn't quite nail the colors to give the sheer look I wanted to, but I got pretty close.

Day 29 - Fav scene / panel redraw

I used 3 shades of grey in this and was surprised how close to the panel my markers got. I can't tell you how much I love this scene. The symbolism, the stark angles, the Maka's power of friendship failing because she isn't ready to break the perfect student mold yet. The fact that Chrona vaguely remembers Maka enough to know they have someone they'd want to say goodbye to.

I love act of wrath Chrona. It's the version I cosplay the most. There's just something about them finally making their own desisions, making bad ones, and still having friends that care about them, y'know. I don't think I'd like this moment nearly as much without their bit of self reflection at the end. I know the sacrifice = redemption ending for them is very contenious, but I feel it was left with enough hints of them returning eventually that I'm at peace with it.

Day 1 - Deathscythe

I've drawn a lot of the other characters as adults for WGKG (it's a long title, I need an acronym). One of the things I touched on was that Tsubaki would be the last of the crew to rise to the status of Death Scythe (witch free of course). I've wanted to draw Tsu with a star design shaved into her hair for a hot minute and a half. I have her as the new weapon in charge of Oceania, with biggest hurdle to her onboarding is learning all the languages she'd need to know in order to be able to talk to all the different countries. (Could she just hire a translator, yes, but this is Tsubaki we're talking about.)

Day 28 - Mundane / Domestic / food / friends

Soul, Maka and Blair bumming around Maka's grandparent's house. Not from any specific fic, but I imagine they'll show up just about anywhere if there's free soda and food involved. Typical student shenanigans.

Day 5 - Existentialism / Surrealism

I've drawn a couple of different soulscapes now, but I realized I never drew Chrona's post Noah's brainwashing/amnesia spell. The sand is black to hide their shadow and clouds disperse the light of the sun in an angry red blanket.

I really wish they did more with soulscape thing. We got to see Soul's, Chrona's and Tsubaki's and that was about it.

Day 30 - Free day!

Here's to a ship a rarely draw or write for exclusively, but do have. Finding good touchy-feely photo refs for gay people is difficult, especially fem gay people. There's got to be pictures out there that aren't women chastly holding hands ; m ;
