tbh I don't know, I haven't received those. I think in general it would be harder to clock scammers in dms, because dms aren't published so it's hard to search and compare if people are getting the same messages from different blogs.
As a rule of thumb, even before recent events, I don't contribute to or share fundraisers on tumblr unless they're created by someone I've known for years. I think it's very unwise generally for people to boost and contribute to fundraisers they find on here without that personal familiarity because they're just too easy to fake and difficult to vet.
If someone has money to give to a good cause, there are tons of organizations doing great work to help people, including people who, crucially, may not have the access or skills to create gofundmes. And for folks who prefer direct giving, going out into the community and simply giving money to unhoused neighbors or stocking community pantries is a way to make sure your money is directly helping people.
