she hadn’t realized a lot of what her father did was wrong. she had grown up thinking he was doing something right, that he was fighting for a cause greater than themselves. he might have been distant, but she held him on a pedestal, perhaps because her mother did too, and her mother was her best friend. she’d been used as a pawn in his games since she was a kid –– it was second nature to her at this point. she was meant to investigate eric, and it was supposed to be simple. work for him and discover if the restaurant he owned was part of something bigger. she’d been a waitress for a month now, and found she created enough banter with eric to actually kind of know him outside of being an employee. she was in the back of the place, chipping away at a book, when she heard him walk in. “i’m sorry, i hope you don’t mind. train doesn’t come for a while and i’d prefer not to wait at the station,” she smiled. “what’s got you all pouty?”
