This is an old pint (BB April 2021), and a re-scoop. Texture suffered a little from age but not too icy. Dark chocolate still good. Was lacking in marshmallow from previous times, and age lost the cookie swirl—softened too much.

something about more realistic renditions of monster fursona ?

HELLO AGAIN BEAUTIFUL CREATURE! i’d hate to simply repeat myself, so i will only talk about the differences. previous reveiw for anyone who forogt

overall design:  OOOOOOH SO GOOD. now that i see them on all fours, i can’t decide if all fours or two legs is better! they’re both very good, and that they can switch easily between the two is VERY good! i love the bbig front part, and thin slender back part. its easier in this drawing to get a good sense of the shape of your furson. Very Nice. weight distribution makes them feel very strong, and very tough. they can fight off All evil of the world. 2/2

creativity/originality: like i said in my previous reveiw, an entirely new species is about as original as possible. but let me take this opportunity to say also, i love the long, thin tail. it looks a bit different, and uh, SO much cooler!!! very nice. and also, BIRD FEET. those are probably my favorite parts!!!!!! 2/2

color scheme: this is a greyscale rendition, but i remember the colors, and this one is good also. i mean, judging only by the greyscale, i love how the shades mesh together. beuatiful. if the colored version had these tone levels, it would be A+++++++++++ 2/2

animal accuracy: i like this new drawing, because it is easier to judge this kid on realism at least. anyway, its PREFTECT. Very good anatomy, and all the parts resemble examples one could see from real life! its so good. i wish this animal was in real life. 2/2

clothing: still naked. still perfect 2/2

Final score: 10/10. still an amazing design, and yet, you somehow managed to make it BETTER! i LOVE THEM. please do send me more pictures in the future, because they are so nice to look at!

The magus in play

Towards the end of Curse of the Lady's Light, one of the players took over an NPC magus. This gave me a great chance to see how far off I was in my review of the magus.

The player has a high degree of system mastery and she did her research before the session, so it ended up working out. She definitely had fun and is interested in playing around with the magus some more.

Theory vs. Practice

Actual play entirely confirmed my original stance: I certainly wouldn’t suggest the magus for a new player. 

If anything, I underestimated how complex the magus is in play. The interactions between spellstrike, spell combat, and casting defensively end up making some pretty tangled rounds.

Without creating a new archetype, I don't see a way to bring the magus to newer players. But I think the concept is cool enough that our experienced players will probably run with it at some point.
