Aluminum: The light atom

I want to start a new series of posts. In the past I only posted stuff I found on the internet or in books. That’s fun in deed (and it’s easy ;) and I’m going to carry on doing that. But on the other hand, i’m going to show you somting new. Let me call it “resources-atomized” (buzzy, isn’t it?;)

For a better view a weighted country-specific risk model called WCR is used.

 Usage:

Aluminum is used as a light metal/alloy amongst others in the construction of planes, ships and cars. It’s also used for packaging and cans (because of its biological, chemical and physical barrier properties). Electro technology (high-voltage cables), optics and light technology are other areas of use.

 Production:

It’s ore is bauxite. The refinery product is alumina and aluminum hydroxid. For the electric melting furnace you need korund.
