My district stresses that we shouldn't use sarcasm with students…
Not a problem. As a resident autistic, I don't understand sarcasm anyway and I don't use it with kids. Sarcasm for me was developed as a self defense mechanism against abuse I was getting from adults growing up. Now fellow adults that know me just find it funny. I don't really talk to fellow adults at work unless I need to and only about things that need to be discussed. Being direct with kids works so much better anyway. Doesn't matter if they're 5 or 17, be direct, respect their individuality, and avoid sarcasm.
