My state has a ballot measure to make it illegal to pay waiters’ a tipping wage that Iess than the minimum wage. It would not prevent anyone from receiving tips but a commercial in my area claims that it would stop tips. I think it’s scaremongering so employers don’t have to pay a fair wage. I’m the daughter of a waitress and I have heard it all when it comes to non-tippers. I feel like the majority of people who already do tip wouldn’t stop just because waiters make minimum wage. But hey, why don’t I ask?
If waiters made minimum wage as opposed to a much lower tipping wage, would that stop you from tipping your server?
Yes, if their full wage isn’t dependent on my tip, I don’t see why I have to.
No, same tip as always, they’re busting their ass.
No, but I would tip less
No, unless it’s horrible service
I don’t live in the US with such a ridiculous wage-tipping structure
As always, please reblog for larger sample size!
