February 5, 2026 - Day 231
It turns out it's restaurant week, so we decided to try out the menu before our show.
Ha ha!
I lived through the entire month of Restaurant Week.
Now I’m back, bitches!
*dances around gaily, wildly waving a handkerchief in delight, blissfully oblivious to the potential bite of the previous statement*
✨HUZZAH!✨
Anyway, this one literally almost did me in, but I’m going to savour my last few moments of joy for the night and maybe write something.
For anyone wondering, happy End of WWII today (in 1945), and happy Labour Day.
Unions empower workers and workers fuel the future! WORKERS UNITED!
It’s Restaurant Week in Chicago! A friend organized a dinner out for a couple of us at Untitled Supper Club, a speakeasy-themed joint I’ve been wanting to try. It has a bar with a library ladder, naked ladies on the wallpaper, and a spectacular chandelier -- and the food’s pretty good too.
We had a four-course meal beginning with burrata with truffle honey on a bed of whiskey-roasted grapes, then my friends had oysters while I had the lemon caesar salad; pictured is my entree, lasagne with wild mushrooms and braised leeks, while others got the amish roast chicken or grilled rack of lamb. For dessert we had apple pie cheesecake with dried apple chips, spiced apples in sauce, and vanilla bourbon gelato.
I don’t think it’s somewhere I’d go regularly for a meal, because it’s a bit fancy both in food and decor, but the food was exceptional and I got a nice compliment on my pineapple-print shirt and currently-pink hair from the extremely fashionable host.
I took an Adderall before the meal so I felt really good being able to relax and socialize without worrying that I’d spend the next few days replaying all of the awkward things I said; this morning I’m only remembering good stuff, like one person recounting a tale of Trivia Game Hacking and another telling me “It’s okay we’ve derailed the story I was telling, that’s how conversation works!”
And then I walked home with Auntie A, because it was a cold but pleasant night out, and we got to talk about our writing work. Then I came upstairs and got to sit on the sofa and unwind with this.
So it was a really nice night.
[ID: Up top, five images. Top left, a bar, three shelves of liquor stretching up to about a 20ft ceiling, with a bartender climbing a ladder to get to the top shelf. Top right, a close-up of the wallpaper featuring topless women in high heels dancing with feathers. Middle left, a plate of lasagne, noodles wrapped in circles around mushrooms and cheese, sitting on a bed of bechamel sauce; middle right, a fantastic feathered chandelier floats above the heads of other diners in a room lined with green panels. Bottom, a slice of cheesecake with gelato and spiced apples on top. Finally, a sixth image of Dearborn the tortie, lying on her back on a blanket, gazing up at the camera adorably.]
The sun finally came out this afternoon! And then we spent the evening with friends out for dinner. I'm a little sad to go back to work tomorrow.
Salute! 🥂

Hi guys,
Every year Restaurant Week comes around and I don’t go anywhere. It’s so weird because I love going out to eat but not during Restaurant Week. I decided to change things this year and actually go out. I went to Triple Century after reviewing their menu. Their menu offered a 3-course meal for 1850 plus tax and service charge which would be around $2300 excluding drink.

I’ve never actually bought three courses at a restaurant and decided the best time to do this would be when everything is discounted.
This wasn’t my first time at Triple Century. I went for my 19th birthday a couple years ago. I sat around the bar and asked for the menu as if I didn’t already know what I was going to order.
I ordered the skillet fries as my appetizer and a Muddy Pitch as my drink.
Skillet Fries
I would give the Skillet Fries an 8/10. According to the menu, it is “Seasoned fries loaded with triple cheese sauce, diced tomatoes and jalapenos”
It was a good size for an appetizer. It was hot and the fries were crispy. There was also cheese and if you know me, you’d know that I love cheese. It didn’t take my breath away but it served its purpose.
What did take my breath away was the Muddy Pitch.
Muddy Pitch
This drink was made up of rum cream, ice cream, chocolate and all the good stuff. It was so good. I’d give it a 10/10. It wasn’t strong at all though but that’s for me. We all have different tolerance to alcohol so drink it at your own risk.
For my entree, I took the signature dish, the Chicken Florentine. The menu described it as “Deep fried chicken breast with sauteed spinach and a blend of Mexican Cheese”
Chicken Florentine- I had fries leftover from the appetizer, it also came with two festivals not shown in picture.
I would rate it 6/10. I expected something better for a signature dish. There was nothing special about it but it didn’t taste bad, the portion wasn’t too small and the presentation was nice. I chose festivals as a side and while the festivals were delicious, it was two deggeh deggeh festivals. I wish I had ordered another entree.
Time for dessert. I took this to go because of the Muddy Pitch, the fries and some of the chicken filled me up. The dessert I chose was the Tortuga rum cake. The menu describes it as “Lucious vanilla cake moistened with aged oak barrel Tortuga rum then drizzled with a sweetened coconut sauce.”
Tortuga Rum Cake
I’d give the cake 9/10 and I’m not even a cake person. It was delicious and soft. I could also taste the rum in the cake which is important. I wish it was bigger but I’m glad I chose it.
I spent $3500 including the tip. I’d rate the overall experience 7.5/10 and customer service 10/10.

Dining alone was refreshing as usual. I’ve dined alone many times but never at night. I didn’t stay out too late at this restaurant especially since I was drinking and we all know how dangerous New Kingston can be. I didn’t talk to a soul except the bartender and the hostess. I’m also glad no one tried to make conversation. When I go out alone, I do want to be left alone. I was texting a couple friends and enjoying my food. Dining alone is a 10/10 and I will do it again.

I Went Out For Restaurant Week Alone and This is What Happened Hi guys, Every year Restaurant Week comes around and I don't go anywhere. It's so weird because I love going out to eat but not during Restaurant Week.
Anchovy Canapes, Stuffed Tomatoes, Chicken Liver...
These delectable delights are just a few of the dishes featured in the menu collection at Minneapolis Central Library, which contains nearly a thousand local menus from the 1880s to present. Library staff are in the process of digitizing much of the collection and enhancing the descriptive metadata. Watch for the collection later this spring in the Hennepin County Library Digital Collections.
February 17-22, 2019 is Mpls-St. Paul Restaurant Week. Celebrate with some of the Twin Cities trendiest and best restaurants.
What are your favorite Minneapolis area restaurants from the past and present?
