I have always struggled when stopping for a while, to perhaps have a lunch break on a ride, where the Garmin stops the activity automatically if you pause for longer than a certain time (25 mins I believe). Well there is a solution and I just found it. Once you have paused your activity scroll down until you find the Resume Later option. The watch then goes back into normal mode and when you are ready to restart simply hit start/stop and you'll be back into pause mode and ready to set off again. Fabulous!
