Ian’s 2013 List I feel like interesting electronic releases just keep getting better and 2013 is no exception. I've also added an additional re-issue and retroactive list this year because I feel the need to emphasize some of the great stuff that's getting reprinted. I hope you enjoy the list and I wish everyone a great holiday season and for good things to come in 2014. Steve’s 2013 List 2013 was full of returns from established artists -- some of whom made on my list and others who didn't -- it wasn't a year for discovering new acts. Event albums from major players like Arcade Fire swamped new up and comers; it even feels like James Blake's record has been forgotten by a lot of people, while almost everyone missed the stellar offering from Diarrhea Planet. Only one thing remains constant in 2013: rap still reigns supreme. From Run The Jewels through to Kanye, Drake, Pusha-T, Danny Brown, and that Kendrick verse, rappers made headlines with some of the most challenging, divisive, and talked-about releases in any genre. Steve’s Top 10 Releases Arcade Fire: Reflektor (preview) James Blake: Overgrown (preview) Danny Brown: Old (preview) El-P & Killer Mike: Run The Jewels (preview) Diarrhea Planet: I’m Rich Beyond Your Wildest Dreams (preview) Queens of the Stone Age: …Like Clockwork (preview) Janelle Monae: The Electric Lady (preview) Thundercat: Apocalypse (preview) Kanye West: Yeezus (preview) Vampire Weekend: Modern Vampires of the City (preview) Steve’s Top Reissues & Retroactives At The Drive-In: Relationship of Command The Notorious B.I.G.: Ready to Die Phish: Junta The Roots: Things Fall Apart
