when does she realize she likes you?
it honestly takes argus a while to actually tune in on her own feelings, simply because she's such a workaholic, her tendency to tunnel vision on her cases doesn't really allow herself to think about anything else. it would take a considerable amount of patience on your part, as well as a willingness to support and potentially even assist her with her work, that really makes her think about you differently.
she surmises that you like her pretty quickly, however, and it's not just because of her sharp eye; it's not exactly hard to guess, given that nobody else is as eager to be around her as you are, even when you're investigating a particularly gory crime scene, playing the cute sidekick to her detective to retrieve missing persons, or looking into the surprisingly juicy story involving the 'happily married' couple you'd see almost every day.
you also seem to care about her well-being, and that fact alone both irritates and flatters her. she's fairly... obsessive, to say the least, and she doesn't have time to have you dote on her the way you seem to, but she secretly enjoys the attention, the care you give her. she'll never say anything, but she appreciates the fact that you seem to care so much about her more than you'll ever know.
when it finally dawns on her, she's immediately in denial. frustrated, even— her brain falls into delusion and lies instinctively as a defense mechanism; she doesn't have time for this, this will only get in her way, you will get in her way. but then you're there, convincing her to take a break— not to stop completely but give herself time to fully digest what she's taken on, she's only as good as her mind when it's rested and given some time— and you're looking at her with such admiration, such compassion— after all, you know how important her work is to her— and then it clicks. you've never been a burden, always supportive, even trying to help, you've never left her side even when she's probably deserved it, and then, she's infatuated.
how does she act when she has a crush?
when argus finally clocks in on her own feelings for you, her entire mindset changes. everything becomes a partnership— no longer does she think in "i" and "me", but "we" and "us". you're basically already married with the way she casually tells you that "we've got a new case; it's a bit of a doozy", and "we've gotta get a move on if we wanna catch this guy", it's kind of jarring when it first starts.
her affections are mostly silent, the way she completely changes around you, and her actions definitely speak louder than her words. it's a partnership now, but she'll still reach a hand protectively in front of you, even pushing you behind her if need be. or she'll tell you details about the case but leaves out or tone down the grizzly parts because she knows that the worst of them tend to give you nightmares (or at the very least, extremely bizarre dreams).
she also gets super protective over you. not that she allowed you to blatantly walk into danger before, but now, when she's considering an entire future with you, she'll be damned if something happened to you on her watch. she makes you stand on her left side, even when you insist on watching her blind side, and puts up the biggest fight whenever you stray too far from her. it's even worse at night, her body is ten times more tense than usual, because she's forcing herself to stay on alert.
how would she confess?
in her mind, she already did confess the moment she started considering whatever that's happening between you a "partnership", but of course, it's not that easy. it takes her a little bit longer to work up the courage to actually ask you, not only because she already feels like she's done more than enough to show you that she wants you but also because actually expressing herself seems painful.
luckily, you're emotionally intelligent enough to spare her the misery of saying the words "i like you" when you see that she's purchasing a bouquet from the local flower shop, and nonchalantly hands them over to you, like it was a casual thing. you think the gesture itself is her confession, and she tries to hide the blush on her cheeks when you take them with a smile. her ears might as well be on fire when you find the note hidden in the small arrangement, pretending not to care when your own cheeks warm at the words carefully constructed on the paper (with the help of the shop owner, but you don't need to know that), words she doesn't have the courage to say out loud, but it's just as romantic, if not more so.
TOOTH FAIRY
when does she realize she likes you?
honestly, right away LMFAO. unlike argus, she's quite in tune with her emotions, i feel, and while she does go through a denial stage, it's more of a means to downplay her feelings because of her profession. think like "i treat all my patients with the care and respect they deserve— i just happen to do it more for you."
when she starts thinking about you (and your teeth) while she's traveling, it finally hits her, and she avoids you briefly to fully digest that she likes you; mostly because she doesn't want it to impede on the established friendship you already have, and also because she's not particularly fond of her feelings getting in the way of her work.
when she finally accepts it, tooth fairy is kind of awkward, but it's cute because you can tell she's trying. and while she does like you, she does absolutely nothing about it until she's confident that you like her as well. you're likely one of her few friends, and most importantly, she's a doctor, and not only does she not want to lose your friendship, she also doesn't want you to be uncomfortable and avoid her if you ever need her treatment. she needs you and your teeth in her life, and she would be content to keep you as her friend. but when she does get confirmation?
how does she act when she has a crush?
she's still pretty awkward, but now she's confident that your bashfulness is not because you're just being polite, so she pushes herself a little bit more out of her comfort zone. whenever she has your company, she starts rambling to you about all different types of teeth, fact-dumping all over the place, and you're honestly a little bit surprised that she's actually a bit of a yapper.
her tooth fairies are your worst enemy, unfortunately, and you cannot walk into a room in peace without the little monsters pounding on their glass prisons, promising her that they will use you to enact their vengeance if ever they escape, usually by stealing all your teeth. the threats are in vain, of course, but it doesn't mean that it doesn't make her think sometimes.
she encourages you to take care of your teeth! in part with her ramblings about teeth in general, she also takes it upon herself to give you completely impromptu health tips for your teeth. she tends to stare at your mouth and your teeth a lot, and while it was unintentional at first, when she sees that it flusters you, she starts doing it on purpose (getting to see you all shy and getting to peak at your teeth? a win-win in her eyes!)
she isn't really worried about favoritism, as she's quite particular about that, but she does tend to go the extra mile for you. if you ever go to her for any kind of treatment, you'll end up getting like three different completely unrelated check-ups just because "you can never be too careful", but her obvious favorite is when you go to her for checkups on your teeth.
she's still kind of shy at this stage, because nothing hasn't technically been confirmed, but if you insist, she may even bring you on her trips with her, helping collect all kinds of teeth, and happily info-dumping about how the similarities and differences between them, it's adorable!
how would she confess?
honestly, she's quite lax about her feelings; after admitting to herself that she likes you and confirming that you like her— she would probably tell you straight out. she'd do so like it's a completely casual thing, and it's most certainly at the most random time, it takes you a few seconds to register what she actually said LMAO.
