1. What is a revoicing practice?
A revoicing practice enables individuals to restructure an idea/belief in a way that supports their ideology. These practices include shops in which both fundamentalist and secular ideas, images, narratives, and practices are smelted, refashioned, melded, packaged, and distributed. In terms of religion, there are numerous Biblezines that target specific groups of people. One very popular Biblezine called Revolve targets young girls. These Biblezines are structured just as regular magazines are however, they incorporate religion in each section/passage. The topics and issues are refocused, and by incorporating religion, these Biblezines attempt to remind youth to apply their faith to their everyday lives.
2. Are the three examples of 'evangelicals' detailed by the author assisted by notions of anxiety or fear? Pick one and explain.
In my opinion, the three examples of 'evangelicals': green evangelicals, gay evangelicals, and an emerging church are assisted by notions of anxiety or fear. Fear and anxiety are exhibited by individuals who do not like their religious views challenged. Gay evangelicals have created groups and organizations in order to provide support for one another and attempt to help people come out. Homosexuality causes fear and anxiety among the evangelical church members and has assisted in creating this group. In an attempt to move forward, some gay evangelicals have began to attend churches that do not agree with homosexuality. However, this can also cause problems, as some individuals in these churches may feel that their views aren't being respected and followed correctly.
