I’ve been in two relationships that deal with long distance. My first boyfriend, we were together for about 1 year and 8 months. Eight months into our relationship were in person until he had to move. We spent a year of our relationship apart and it was the hardest thing. He ended up cheating on me. My second relationship, i moved and a week after i moved, the guy i was seeing started liking someone else. He didnt want to decide between us so i decided and just left him. I knew that it wouldnt work out based on my first relationship. I guess once you get cheated on, it just changes your mindset. And i was going to college and i knew I’d find someone eventually. What i didnt expect was finding someone on my first year. My boyfriend now, we’ve been together for 7 months and he is amazing. Absolutely perfect in my eyes. So caring and gentle and patient. More than what Ive ever wanted. Right now, we’re in a long distance relationship for the summer. And it sucks. To be honest it sucks. But it happens. We’ve been pretty great at it and it’s slowly restoring my hope in ldrs. My advice would be, if you love the person, go for it. If you absolutely think its worth it, give it a try. I mean the worst thing that can happen is that it doesnt work out. But at least you’ll know the feeling of long distance and you’ll always have that experience with you. You guys can set out a schedule to facetime or video chat when it works out best for both parties. Just dont let the label of long distance get to you if the person means so much to you, does that make sense? I was scared to do ldr again, but this person made me open my eyes and realize that it does work if both of you put the efforts into it. Also, always focus on the positive side. Never on the bad side. At this point in your relationship–being away from each other– see it as a way to strengthen your bond. See it as a way to hold each other up. And most importantly, stay strong. I hope this helped in any way. If you need anyone to talk to, I’m here. ❤️
