There are days that I dream of the river, of the fresh waters of the Amazon, the scent of thick rainforest in the air, the sound of the boat motor as it cruises its indomitable tributaries, like the branches of a tree, like the veins in my arm.

I dream of its golden sunrises, and bright red sunsets.

I dream of my Grandpa's preachings, of my Nana's warmth, my Vó's ribeirinho teachings, of my Vô's humor and laugh. I dream of their wisdom and their love, all surrounding and all encompassing.

I dream of my father, his intellect and wit, and I dream of my mother, her intelligence and warm embrace, and my brothers and sisters...

I dream of the ones with us, and the ones who have passed...

I've been away from home for so long, my own mother language feels alien to me when I speak it, and that fills me with an indescribable sadness and loneliness.

I've almost forgotten the sounds of the forest at night, the taste of water from a cut vine deep in the Amazon, how fresh and earthy it tasted...

I've almost forgotten how it felt to swim the Tapajós until my muscles were on the edge of pure exhaustion, daring friends and brothers and sisters to touch the bóia in the middle of the river one more time...

I've almost forgotten... but I haven't yet.

Painel - Bairro São Pedro

Durante o período da disciplina de Leituras da Cidades, foram feitas análises dos mais diversos aspectos de bairros ribeirinhos da cidade de Teresina. O bairro que ficou sob nosso olhar foi o bairro São Pedro, onde foram obervadas suas características topográficas, de fluxo, influência da via fluvial na vida da população, foi pesquisada sua origem e projetos futuros para o bairro. O resultado dessa análise foi concretizada no painel abaixo.
