The time is the day after tomorrow. The place: a far corner of the universe. The cast of characters: two men lost amongst the stars, two men sharing the common urgency of all men lost - they’re looking for home. Very odd. The fear has left me now. I'm numb. I have no feeling. It's as if someone had pulled out some kind of a plug in me, and everything, emotion, feeling, fear has drained out. And now I'm a cold shell. I'm conscious of things around me now. The vast night of Arizona. The stars that look down from the darkness. Ahead of me, stretch of a thousand miles of empty Mesa. Mountains, prairies, desert. Somewhere among them, he's waiting for me. Somewhere I'll find out who he is. I'll find out. I'll find out what he wants. But just know, for the first time, looking out at the night, I think I know. I think I know.

Think about it and then ask yourself, do you live here, in this country, in this world, or do you live instead in the Twilight Zone?

C'mon, tell me – are these what I need? I didn't say they were. But I'll tell you something – they happen to be what I need.

There was an old woman who lived in a room and, like all of us, was frightened of the dark, but who discovered in the minute last fragment of her life that there was nothing in the dark that wasn't there when the lights were on. Object lesson for the more frightened amongst us, in or out of the Twilight Zone.
