Do you see how I’m standing? It’s because I have a broken ankle in this picture. In another speech in another state just before this one, I had to be carried on stage because I had crutches we bought at Walgreens and I hadn’t seen a doctor yet. I was climbing in Yosemite with my family and broke my ankle. @natalienorton had to carry me on her back down the mountain in the dark. No joke. She’s legit. Life is never easy. You never know what’s going to happen. I get email and message and email and message and email and message about tragedies, hard things, crap. I welcome them. I think people feel comfortable sharing because I’m comfortable sharing and perhaps because of our tragedies I can relate. One thing I know is that comparing hardships is worthless. It’s all hard. It all sucks. Ironically, sometimes people downplay their hardships because they think it may not be as bad as someone else. Don’t disservice yourself. Acknowledge your pain. Acknowledge others. Sometimes the best way to help someone who is hurting is simply to hurt along with them. I don’t mean get hurt. I mean mourn. Just feel what people feel and suddenly when people feel felt or heard, they miraculously start to heal. Feeling heard is the best medicine anyone can give. Think of your kids when they fall down and cry. The moment you acknowledge and kiss the booboo, all is well. See people. Love is more about respect than anything else. Stand on your own stage and tell your story as a way to heal, help others heal and make meaning with your experiences. Social media is a stage, a tv, a radio and a newspaper rolled into one. You’re better, more experienced and more powerful than you know. Own it. We need you. We want you. We’re listening. #richienorton #entrepreneur #ruckuslist click the link in profile to watch the live webinar. Disappears...
