Why aren't Democrats focusing on bigotry and atrocities committed by Non-White People? Because we are living in a country run primarily by White People. Because we are living in a country run historically by White People. Because we are living in a country created by White People (who used enslaved labor). Because we are living in a country that still has Systemic Racism at its very core. Because we are living in a country where White Nationalist Movements are growing and endangering people. Because we are living in the economic powerhouse of the world. You have to clean your own home, before you can ever think about criticizing the homes of others. White Bigotry can tell us a lot about other bigotries (In-Groups and Out-Group Dynamics, Dehumanization, a "Right to Conquest", etc.). White Bigotry can tell us a lot about Humans and Humanity. And White Bigotry feeds into other Bigotries like Xenophobia, Transphobia, Anti-Semitism, and Islamophobia. Islamophobia is largely about hatred of Black People and Brown People. Its no mistake that Islamophobia is so rampant in the primarily White West (Europe, Canada, USA, etc.), while most Muslims are Middle Eastern and African. Islamophobia impacts Sikhs, despite Sikhs not being Muslim. But many Sikhs are People of Colour. Anti-Semitism had people calling White Jewish Folks "not true White People". Transphobia (and what makes a Woman a "true Woman" & a Man a "True Man") often stems from White Western Patriarchal Values. That is why TERFs keep calling Cis Women "Men". That is why "transvestigations" exist. That is why Black Cis Athletes are forced to change their hormones and are still kicked out of competing. Xenophobia feeds heavily on White Supremacy. The idea these non-white invaders are primitive and evil. The idea these non-white invaders are going to rape White Women. Meanwhile, us White Folks are "civilized and treat White Women with respect". These ideas are just Racism and White Bigotry. So much current hatred and bigotry in the World stems from White Supremacy and White Nationalism. The idea that White Bigotry is a footnote is laughable. White People are still going around killing People of Colour. Whether it was Vietnam, Korea, Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, etc. To imply that we should not focus on the current problems today or how we got here... is laughable. Nazi Germany was due to White People and White Identity. And Nazi Germany got ideas from the North American genocide of Indigenous People. To imply both are so miniscule. Both are just an "anti-white narrative". It is ridiculous. We need to talk about White Bigotry, White Identity, White Nationalism, and White Supremacy. Because so many recent crimes and recent problems are happening because of these evil ideas. This is an ongoing, existing problem. The history and consequences of these ideas/actions are still impacting millions of lives. There is a reason we have to talk about this, especially a reason why White People have to talk about this. When we have reemergences of Nazism within the USA, we have to talk about what's going on and how we got here. And to try to diminish the harm these ideas are causing, saying its just such a small part of the whole picture, is helping no one. It is only encouraging people to make false equivalents and to focus their attention on Non-White People. So you can say, "Look! They did bad stuff too! It does not matter if White People genocided them or exploited them. They were not perfect victims." By ignoring and diminishing White Evil and White Crimes, you are not helping anyone. At best, you are trying to make White People not feel sad. At worst, you are doing genocide apologia. And in general, you are just ignoring current widespread problems that have a long and bloody history.
"13-year-old man" "13-year-old man" When Brown People and/or Black People die, it is important to listen to how the media describes them. Brown Boys and Black Boys are described as "Men". Brown Girls and Black Girls are described as "Women". This feeds into police narratives. "The Officer feared for his life confronting the Man" sounds more justifiable than "The Officer feared for his life confronting the Child." Suddenly, its more reasonable to gun down a kid, because he wasn't a kid! He was a "13-year-old man". It is important we recognize the power of words to craft a narrative. It is important we recognize the power of words that guide our conversations. Our word choice is not inherently neutral or unbiased. (Rest in Peace, Adam Toledo.)
Superman is a much more "American" Superhero than Batman. Superman wears Red & Blue. Superman's slogan is "Truth, Justice, and the American Way". Superman is a sign that USAmerican Values can create/cultivate heroes. Superman embodies the best of America (both Rural America and Urban America). Superman is overtly proud of his country, and is a good man raised on good old-fashioned (Rural) American values. You would think Superman would be every Conservative's favorite superhero. But... he's just not... because he is an immigrant. Doesn't matter the content of his character, his values, his beliefs, his upbringings, etc. Conservatives just view him as an illegal immigrant. (The concept of legality is funny, once you realize every superhero is doing illegal activities. Aka vigilantism, destruction of property, assault and battery, fleeing from police officers, etc.) They simp for Batman... cause Batman is rich and a "self made man". A combination of Elon Musk and a Gym Bro. I love Batman and Superman, but its very interesting when people start to dislike Superman due to his immigrant status. You can be a White, Fictional Man... and people will still dislike you for being an immigrant.
The nuclear family is allegedly the cornerstone of western civilization and usamerican culture. But the nuclear family is so fragile that a cartoon teaching they/them pronouns can utterly destroy it. Nonbinary People existing is not insidious. Singular they/them pronouns existing is not insidious. Your child learning that other groups of people exist will not break your bond with them, unless you are a bigot who made transphobia a core part of your personality (*cough* TERFs *cough*). Also, interesting that Fox News suddenly cares about Muslim families, and coincidentally at the very same time that they are fearmongering about Trans People. Notice that the upper class and reactionary media pits minority/marginalized groups against each other. Here Fox News is trying to pit Muslims, Christians, & Jewish People against Trans People. When it doesn't have to be this way. Trans People, Nonbinary People, Muslims, Christians, & Jewish People can all get along and respect each other's existence. We are stronger together, and the reactionaries know this.
Conservatives miss the decades when Trans People were more ostracized and stigmatized. Conservatives hate that Trans People are allowed in commercials, advertising, television shows, public events, etc. Conservatives hate that Trans People have been normalized. Conservatives hate that Trans People exist. I do not miss those days. I do not miss the days when Trans People were only allowed on TV to be mocked or to cause revulsion. Trans People are normal everyday people. They should be allowed to be in commercials, television shows, movies, comics, novels, etc. Just like any other group should be given the same courtesy. Charlie Kirk is a pathetic, bigoted man.
It is interesting how openly conservatives despise Women's Suffrage. I imagine the thought process is... women tend to be more liberal and compassionate (especially around issues involving abortion, contraceptives, and LGBTQIA+ issues), which is why conservatives do not want women to vote. When women vote, they tend to vote to preserve abortion rights. And instead of conservatives changing their platform to accommodate this desire, they endorse voter disenfranchisement. Conservatives show their patriarchal nature. They want to take away choice from women (whether that be the choice to vote or the choice to have an abortion). The important decisions thus gets regulated to the men, and the men only. Because women are viewed as fragile, feeble, too emotional, and too compassionate. While the men are viewed as smart, stoic, and strong, not letting their emotions guide their choices. It speaks to a very antiquated mindset.
