Well, we finally got out to the river. My buddy told me it had dropped about 8 inches but was still high, but we might be able to cross. With long-wading staff, it took every muscle to stay stable, but I made it. Take small steps, lean into the flow, keep your feet low, and ensure staff is firm in the river rocks. We managed to catch a few. Jim got his first-ever. On our way back, crossing was harder as we had to go upriver against the flow. And I could feel my feet sliding and moving as the rocks rolled. It felt like every muscle was being used to keep upright. I finally made it across; the river had moved me about 20 feet downriver from the exit. This morning, my whole body is aching from the strain. Here are some photos.
