I had a pretty exciting thing happen to me last week, and I kind of want to brag about it.
SiriuxXM has an online channel that is all Disney music, so obviously I listen to it regularly. Well, this channel also has a show where listeners submit a playlist of their four favorite Disney songs, so obviously I had to do that. Also obviously, it’s near impossible for me to pick just 4 Disney songs I love. Instead, I decided to choose 4 songs that have some kind of special or significant meaning in my life.
Anyway, I submitted it over the summer, and in October I got an email asking me to record intros to the songs, as well as a couple of other Disney related clips. They provided a basic script, I just added in the song names/movies/ect. as well as my anecdotes for each one. I spent a week trying to get the recordings perfect (and ending up with one pretty hilarious outtake that I will keep forever and ever, but does not use Disney friendly language, so it did not make it to them).
Last week, I got another email, that it would be airing. It ran six times over three days last week, and I listened to every single one of them. I also recorded it, because I had some family and friends that wanted to hear it, but didn’t have a subscription.
This was a huge deal for me, obviously because Disney, but more so, I have always loved the radio industry. My uncle has been a local DJ for as long as I can remember, and some of my favorite memories are the days he would bring me to the studio with him. It’s something I secretly always wanted to do, but was too self-conscious to make any moves to make it happen. So to be on the radio, talking about Disney, was such an amazing and exciting moment that I just want to shout from the rooftops.
If you’ve made it this far into my self indulgence, thank you, I appreciate you. I wanted to find a way to tie it into the fandom, so I decided to pic four songs for Riley, and write the script out as if she were also doing this. That is below the cut, with an extra special edit moodboard I made. I have also included my tag list because it’s technically a fic, but like with a super long A/N.
I’m Queen Riley Rys of Cordonia, and this is my Be Our Guest 4 the Day playlist.
Before I became the queen of Cordonia, the only royalty that mattered to me were the Disney princesses, so when I was asked to pick my four favorite Disney songs, I was beyond excited. Then I realized there was no way I could narrow it down to just four favorites, so I decided it would be better to pick four songs that best tell my real life fairytale.
First up is Why Should I worry, by Billy Joel, from the movie Oliver and Company. It’s no secret that my story started in New York. I grew up in the suburbs, but spent as much time as I could in the city, so when it was time to move out on my own, I knew that was where I had to be. Living in New York was an amazing experience, and I truly thought it was where I would be for the rest of my life, but the universe had other plans. New York helped make me the woman I am today, so this seemed like the perfect song to kick off my playlist. Here it is on Disney Hits, the happiest music on earth.

For my second song, I chose Someday My Prince Will Come, from Snow White. I think it’s pretty obvious why I picked this song. Sure, it’s kind of on the nose, but there is no better way to describe the night that changed my life forever. Liam was everything Disney taught me a prince could be, and so much more. And he shows me every day that life really can be better than the fairy tales. So here it is, Someday My Prince Will Come, on Disney Hits.

My third song is Friend Like Me from Aladdin. Even though Liam is the reason I went to Cordonia, I never would have gotten to where I am without my amazing friends. When things were looking impossible, and I was on the brink of losing hope, they never did. I would have never gotten my happy ending without their support and dedication. They are my Genie and Fairy Godmother all rolled into one. Here’s Friend Like Me, on Disney Hits.

My final song is Baby Mine from Dumbo. As much as my life had changed when I moved to Cordonia, it was nothing compared to how much it would change when I became a mother. Eleanor has brought so much to my life, but motherhood started out much harder than I ever would have imagined. I chose this song because I want it to be a reminder to my daughter that no matter what struggles or challenges we face, we will always face them together, as a family. So here it is, Baby Mine, on Disney Hits. The happiest music on earth.
